He ended things one day prior, we never encounter each other in public before. The next day as I was leaving the store, he was coming in and he was speechless but locked eyes with me for what felt like forever. He did hold the door and I couldn’t even say thank you. Never felt this overwhelming feeling before, what could this be? Is he regretting it? We haven’t reached out to each other after.

Not regretting just an oh shit this can't be happening moment. I had something similar happen years ago. It was just an uncomfortable situation for me that I wanted over as soon as possible.
