But, lately, he keeps calling me pet names like babes and now he was telling me about how he was chilling in his boxers and that there was room for two in his blanket.

Also I was saying how sweet the strawberries I was eating were and he said: “must be why you’re so sweet”

Am I making a comeback from the friendzone or am I just wishful thinking?

Why he doesn’t trust me:
we were talking on an online platform and when he started saying that he wanted to meet irl I decided to look into who he was. I found out he’d lied about his name I guess to protect his identity. We talked like everything was normal for many months after I found out. Then he started acting distant and said it was because I knew him. That he knew I wouldn’t say anything about our conversations but it was like a gut feeling he was having.

The whole situation sounds weird...
I mean if he wanted to meet you IRL and was interested in a real relationship with you and all...
... then why would he mind you knowing who he is?
You supposed to go as far as you two becoming in a relationship without you even knowing who you are in a relationship with?
The situation sounds absurd.

I can't rule out the possibility that he might be a good guy who are just a bit odd.
But spontaneously, it sounds like something is wrong.
Maybe he just tried to get to use you for sex or maybe scam you for money or something.

Sure I get that there can be reasons to be anonymous online.
But if you're supposed to get to know someone closer and making plans to meet IRL and all.
At some point you need to at least partly tear your walls down to some extent.
For some reason he doesn't seem willing to do that with you.

He should be understanding of you looking into him before you met in real life.

Anything is certainly possible & some really great relationships have started off as friendships & as for being in the friend zone it is possible to get out of it.
