Guys, How to know if the guy u like is interested?

Hello everyone!! I am currently a high school student and in the senior year of high school. there is this guy, let us call him "pasta". so basically pasta has just joined our school for the new session and he is the most introverted, shy, quiet guy i have ever met. he has this mysterious vibe to him, which lures me towards him. he doesn't usually talk to girls, more like he would once he is comfortbale, yet does not talk that much. he became friends with one of my close and old friends. so, i sort of told him to you know, set me up with him because i was kinda into him. he is trying his best and to be frank, there are some problems. he allowed me to sit next to him and also he agreed to sit next to me (my school is very traditional so they do not allow girls and boys to sit together) so it was quite shocking to me, but he would just reply to whatever i say in group setting. he does not talk to me one to one and rarely if he does, he does not even look at me. LIKE AT ALL. he laughs at whatever bullshit i say but never talks to me when it is just the two of us. but recently, we both are in a same skit, due to which we sort of started talkinng, which was like yesterday, LMAO. i know this is very childish of me but please help me out in understanding whether i should back off with whatever i am doing or continue if he is interested.
