Why is it acceptable for women to look for rich men and not the other way around?

Because that’s kind of how it worked for a long time. A woman was not allowed to own anything, only be owned. Your great-grandmother probably wasn’t legally allowed to own her jewelry, it was all considered your grandfather’s because he was the one that owned the estate, including her. So society had it so that women would seek out rich, eligible bachelors for marriage because it wasn’t considered socially acceptable, and in a lot more cases it wasn’t legal, for a woman to have her own job or home. So that’s why it’s “okay” for women to do that and seen as shifty for men (tho let’s be real, women are accused of “gold-digging” waaaaaay more than men) because for generations that was how society worked.

My great grandmother was allowed to own jewelry, land and all. She had her own independent financial profile... but lets forget about the past , today we are equals, right? women work and make money ,, so why are they still gold diggers?

I disagree to that.. it changed.. women were not equal to men in the past.. now it has changed and they are equals.. So women can't be accepted to be gold diggers anymore.. that has to change too.. Women always picks what benefits them and ignore what doesn't.. pure hypocrisy !!

If the people who did it are still alive, and they are. I imagine your grandparents are still alive and your grandma wasn’t allowed to have a bank account in solely her name until the 1970’s in america, maybe a decade or two before you were born, those practices and those mindsets STILL have influence.
