If a guy (early 30s) asks a girl her age does that signify potential interest?

For context, say the 2 young adults in question had just met that day and had a few easy good conversations by this point. They came from the same background, spoke the same language, and enjoyed talking, but lived in different parts of the country. (It wasn't considered a rude question, it flowed through the conversation).

As a guy who is in the 'dating' age range (30's), what does it mean if he asks a girl her age? Is there any other reason than for curiosity of potentially being interested/dating in her?

As a guy in my 30s if I do that it means I'm willing to know about her more and am interested in her whether she is single, her likes, dislikes, interests, how to win her heart and maybe get into relationship with her if things goes well between us.

It could be either curiosity or interest. A lot depends on what else he asks, especially if she has a boyfriend.
