So I have a crush on this guy and he mentioned the other day he's never received flowers. So I thought I'd get him flowers but also give him this book as like a little puzzle for him to solve since he's a smart man.

Hah. I remember reading up on this as a kid. Means a bit less when others are unaware but the difference in say, amount and colour of roses is a pretty big deal.

Not a bad idea if you think he'd like it. Very thoughtfil to provide instructions for how to interpret the gift.

Ask the guy out and give him a single flower while doing so. Wait with the book until you are in a relationship, I feel it's a bit too much. Many flowers would be better for a birthday or an occasion. The single flower, to me, shows you heard him and is a nice point of attention. You don't need to buy his love.

It would be really great to see the roles flipped like this.
