Why would a reserved coworker reopen his door to look out after already closing it — professional or personal?

There’s a reserved teacher at my school who usually doesn’t say much to me. One day at dismissal, he had already shut his classroom door but then reopened it and looked out while I was talking to another teacher. He didn’t look upset at the student, just observing. He normally doesn’t say bye or make small talk, but I notice he pays more attention when I’m confident or handling situations well. What does it mean when someone does something like that — is it just being professional or could it be personal curiosity?

It's hard to understand the situation. He could've opened the door for any number of reasons. He could've been waiting for someone who was supposed to meet him after dismissal, so he was checking to see if they were coming.
