Guy questions whether his gal really wanted him to accompany her?

I was talking to a young friend earlier today and he mentioned his girlfriend was heading out for pizza at night. Her roommate/bestie saw she popped on her uggs and walked out on her own while the boyfriend stayed on the count. So the bestie yelled at him to go after her and accompany her to get the pizza so she's not walking around by herself.

He asked if he was wrong to stay on the couch rather than to go with his girlfriend and I said technically it would have been nice of him to accompany her even if she didn't specifically ask him to. (To me, the whole point of having a boyfriend/girlfriend is to show caring and protectiveness for one another.)

What do y'all think?

You already know my opinion. I drive my wife places and drop her at the front door, then I go park the car and rejoin her. I always walk on the side between her and traffic. Open doors, pull her chair out for her, etc.

If it was after dark, I would certainly accompany her. But if it was daytime, a short walk, a safe neighborhood, and she declined my offer. . . I would respect her wishes.

It depends from woman to woman.

For example right now my wife doing her own shopping and sitting replying. And we are fine with him.

So my friend, the way to live depends on thr couple. If her girlfriend is ok for her to go alone and there is no big risk , so why it matters to anyone.

I think the point of concern was she was out v late at night and he should have gone with her bc we don't live in a 100% safe environment.

They're both pretty young, actually. She's 20 and he's 22.

Meh. That's his first-ever girlfriend. I think in the grand scheme of things they're "young".

No.. When are they going to learn to be self dependent. You know the worst part, him doubting his decision later. That's not what a man should do. Too lovey dovey things ruin the relationships. If he wanted to he would have taken her, but he didn't and later rethinking. That's going wrong on many things. Seems like the girl is more mature and confident than him.

I think you're overthinking it. It's good that he's considering her SAFETY when she was going out LATE NIGHT for a pizza.

You are not understanding the point here. He was reminded by someone, then he started thinking about it. Not by himself. That's the actual problem.
