Was he flirting with her? Honest opinions pls?

Ok, so, full story...

I am the host of a Meetup group and had organised an event at a local bar. Along came an attractive girl who we had only met once before. She very kindly bought both my boyfriend and me a drink and then we all sat down. Boyfriend sat opposite me and this girl. He seemed very interested in what she had to say. I later moved next to him and asked him if he wants to go to the bar with my card and get himself another drink. He asked if he could use my card to buy this girl another drink too. Later on in the evening, he asked her for her Facebook and then popped up saying, ‘hi it’s Ian’ and then told her to let him know when she gets home safe. I wished her well and told her her coat is nice. Ian told her that her coat is ‘lovely’. A bit confused, I ask him if he fancies her and his response is, ‘yeah she’s hot’...

Am I just being silly and reading too much into this? We have since had a discussion and he has said that he only bought her a drink because she bought him one and that he only asked for her Facebook because they had a connection and he finds her interesting and wanted to make sure she got home safe.
