Do guys ever secretly take a girl shopping just to have her help pick out her own gift without her realizing it?

He told me he needed help finding a gift for a girl around my age, so I went with him to the mall, thinking I was just helping out. We walked around, joked a bit, and I even suggested a Sephora gift card. He agreed, bought it, and everything seemed normal—until we got back in the car and he handed it to me, saying, “Here, Liz jan, this is for you.” I just sat there stunned, realizing the “girl” he’d been shopping for was me the whole time.

I kinda did this. I took my wife then girlfriend to a jewelry store and asked her preferences on all kinds of jewelry. We had been dating for around 6 months. That way I knew her preferences in the future without her finding out i was getting her stuff

Not in that way, but my husband will often take note of things I like or want and buy them for me online. It is always a nice surprise when that mystery package arrives on the doorstep.
