Do you think he is just (50M) very fond of me or into me (32F)?

He is a colleague. I really can’t understand if he is really fond of me as a person or if he is interested in me romantically but trying to hide or it something. Sometimes I am sure that it is romantic, sometimes I am sure that it is friendly. I am really looking forward to hear from you guys. Why I think it might be romantic:

- He calls me sunshine

- He sometimes touches/caresses on my upper arm when he saw me as a part of “hi”

- He is very caring: If my stomach hurts, he gives me something that helps with it / If I want to smoke but I do not have cigarettes with me he goes looking for it on the entire office for me / If I am tired but had to go to office, he offers to pick me up and drive back even though we don’t live in the same city

- For example he says “yes you don’t like fish because it reminds you of…..”. and then adds “see I am actively listening what you say”

- Some days ago he said to me indirectly “i like you very much” and got shy. We were mentioning about a colleague and he said he likes her a lot and some hours later he said I am like that colleague to him, I said “no please do not put us in same category I don’t like her much” and then he said “but you know what i feel about her… i like her very much” then shy face

- Recently he tried to get my number but conversation paused weirdly

- Recently when I said I would start dating after date x, he jokingly asked me out by saying “then I am sending an invitation for date x”

- We were talking about cooking, he said he can cook good their local food, I said “then cook for us and bring us” and he said “sure I can cook for you, when do we do it and where do we do that your place or mine?” So he took it as a 1-1 cooking at home plan where I was not offering it.

- When he is talking to me he has this softer voice

Why I think it is platonic:

- There are no bold moves, no real life interaction

- Maybe he is a natural flirt meaning nothing?

- Maybe he sees me as a family?

Based on what you described I would presume he definitely likes you to a certain degree. I wouldn't discount the possibility of him being a "natural flirt" but even a flirtatious guy wouldn't flirt with someone they don't find attractive.

As you said, he had already indirectly said he likes you, he also asked for your number. These two advances/actions are pretty clear signs of attraction.

I guess the opposing factor asserting a potentially platonic relationship is the confession of his feelings for your other female colleague, but its not uncommon for a person to have amorous feelings for multiple people.

If I were in your shoes I'd just be straight up and ask him how he feels about you. You guys are way past the stage of playing the "will they, won't they" that we do in high school lol.
