Guys, Have you ever told a gal that SHE is out of your league?

Funny little convo today with someone who is insanely successful, seemingly social, but has some kind of self-esteem issue. He claimed that *I* was out of his league.

I didn't understand what he meant. I actually thought he was being sarcastic, but it's something to do with values and being willing to walk away from what I called "the junk and noise" of his life. He actually admitted he didn't feel he was in a secure enough place in life to be with a girl like me. I had no idea what he was talking about.

I watched him leave and one of his buddies turned to ask if I was ok. I shrugged and didn't really answer. The buddy pointed out that the guy was right, I was out of his league. He said the guy respects my value bc with other women he very rarely walks away.

It all seemed very odd. Not sure what to make of it.

What do y'all think? Have you ever told a gal that she's out of your league?

A man who puts a woman on a pedestal will fail at a longterm happy relationship.

Reason being, a woman wants to be invited into a man's frame, on his adventure... Not to be the adventure herself. A man needs the ability to satisfy her hypergamy, which is her perception of him as ABOVE her, which is something a woman has as a necessity to respect a man she is with.

There should be mutual respect and admiration, but a man MUST be viewed as superior to his woman or she will cheat on him with a man with more confidence and security. I don't make the rules, I've just seen every romance cover and they all want a man who can dominate them with power.

2 of my exes I felt were a little out of league and I mentioned it a few times to them. Doesn't really exude confidence and makes them question you as a partner, but it's how I genuinely felt.

Negative for myself*** Also, I feel like one of the best dynamics between partners is 2 people that feel like they don't deserve each other. If a girl felt that towards me and I felt the same, that's a match made in heaven (in my opinion)

Yes, my wife, every day. I always tell her how she is smarter than me, and way out of my league, and how lucky I am to have her.

Here is the fun part of that. My wife says she feels the same way about me.

Yes, similar to @worldscolide , I tell my wife frequently. It is an honor to be her husband. Sometimes, men will use it as a way for women to think they're doing the man a favor giving him attention, but that's the way psychological games are played.

When used honestly, it's a way to strength the romantic relationship, as each of you is out of the other's league in some way, but that's what may draw one closer to the other to enhance the life together.

If a lady is out of my league, I just try and keep up with her. If it works out, great.

If it doesn't, it's because she walked away.

I'll have to agree with the others on here who are saying it's better if both people think the other person is out of their league. Those relationships seem to last. That way you both keep trying to get better for eachother.
