Why would he stare and act awkward years later?

Today I saw a guy that used to talk to in 2022. We went to one date. Things didn’t go well and we stopped talking. It ended in bad terms. Today I saw him in public after 6 months. I was walking up and he was walking down with his friends. It was dark and I was wearing dark. He immediately recognize me. His friend was talking and he went silent. When I saw him I turned my head down ( I got nervous). Then I looked up so I could steal a glance but he was already staring at me and our eyes met.

He was probably just shocked to cross paths with you again after so much time passed. That's a normal human response to seeing anyone you once knew in your past. I probably would do the same thing too if I walked past an ex. And if things ended on bad terms with you and him then I highly doubt he was staring at you with any kind of longing feelings.

What caused the date to end badly? Was it something he did or you did?

It happened in the summer too when he saw me. It’s just annoying that he immediately recognizes me and acts awkward.

I don't think there's any particular meaning in it. I think if there was then he would've tried to say something or reconnect by now. Why are you holding on to someone who isn't holding on to you? Especially if you already said things ended on bad terms. Why are you not moving on in your life with someone else?

@asker you need to grow up. How you’re going back and forth is just so unnecessarily defensive. You want to be told that this all means more than it does and arguing with those saying that it meant nothing. I think she knew you were right subconsciously but didn’t want to accept that. It’s why she argued here with us and with other comments. Also why she’s anonymous, she feels ashamed/embarrassed of having that sort of hope after he already dumped her ass and never came back. Not everyone regrets moving on from someone and she has to accept that he isn’t deeply sorry over being done with her.
