I’d like an outside opinion on this situation?

I started talking to a guy recently, very early stage, nothing serious.
The whole conversation from the beginning was mostly jokes and light teasing. We talked on the phone a couple of times, shared basic things about ourselves, nothing deep or intense.

At one point, we were talking about personalities, and I said that his personality and mine are totally different.
He replied saying something like he’s not surprised because he’s different from 95% of people.

I reacted to his message with a laughing reaction (which I do a lot in general), and I replied to that specific message saying:
“One of a kind for sure.”
Then I continued replying normally to the rest of his messages, one by one.

Later, he replied specifically to the “one of a kind for sure” message and said:
“I won’t continue a conversation where I’m being disrespected. Have a nice day.”

I genuinely thought he was joking at first, because the entire dynamic between us had been playful. I honestly didn’t know whether to joke back, respond seriously, or apologize, so I tried to keep it neutral and told him that he obviously didn’t take it the way I meant it.

He then said: “Help me understand your point.”
I replied: “I meant it in a positive way. There were no bad intentions at all.”
He responded with: “Thanks.”

I left that on seen.
A couple of days later, he removed me from his followers and removed himself as well.

From an outside perspective, how would you interpret this situation?
I’d like an outside opinion on this situation?
