An important figure (CEO) and organizer of a youth competition put his hand on the seat of my chair while he was giving me instructions (I'm a teen adult). I avoided eye contact, because i was so uncomfortable with this, but he did not move his hand away. He then brushed his hand against my thigh, and then about a minute later, brushed it against my butt. He did not apologize, back away, or act surprised by any means. And also prior to this, he rested his hand on my shoulder for at least a few seconds, which some people may not consider a big deal, but I thought that was odd. The person sitting by me thinks that I am overreacting, and that he brushed against me by accident. But logically, isn't it considered rude to put your hand on the seat of someone's chair? And he didn't act surprised when he touched me... twice... inappropriately. also, I was the only young adult girl present at this event and my parents weren't there.

The answer is not a 0 vs 100 choice. If you, and people giving you advice, had room for actions in between just ignoring it and straight up police reports, you wouldn't even treat this as any special event. You would just fix it. How? By embarrassing him really badly, say loud enough for the whole room "this is my # private body part you are shamelessly rubbing one after another without flinching. When will it stop?"

Unless you are certain that he did this to others, and still does, or fucked a child. Female sports teachers touched our asses all the time but as far as i know, never fucked any of us. Just one major reaction can be enough to scare them off. So there's no need to involve police. Just make him STFU by scaring him. Even if it was not intentional, he better watch out for a vagina dentata snapping his hand off next time.

Again, it wouldn't even be such a drama if you had boundaries and didn't treat these issues as solely a binary ignoring vs police. ㅤ

I disagree with the police route because he needs to see YOU punish him. You hate when he does it. Not society.

touching the seat of the chair doesn't seem problematic but touching you does.

now do you really feel it was intentional or could it have been accidental? the reality is there shouldn't really be accidental / incidental contact with an employee or anyone unless you are crammed into a tight space. my thought is it is inappropriate.

record your coworker's (with their consent), then go to the police. could be a big payday for you and a bad day for molesters. make sure to first have the recording of them confirming it, or they may take it back if put under pressure by your boss
