Why does my guy friend who doesn’t care for children now all of a sudden tells me he loves children?

I am going for my masters on Special Education. I got my bachelor degree and now working on my masters.
My guy friend doesn’t really care for children but it doesn’t mean he hates them. Don’t think he does. One time he shoved a little girl for being bratty. He was banned from going to an event because of it years ago. So disappointed in him. He’s autistic but it doesn’t excuse him for what he did.

He said to me he would love to be a father one day. I would like to be better at working with kids. My friends told me they think he’s trying to impress me. I don’t believe it. My best friend said, “Oh come on! It’s so obvious. That boy had a crush on you for YEARS. He came over everyday do the past 18 years to see what you’re up too?” I said, “He used to not care for children and all of a sudden he wants children and says I would be a great mother.” Then she said, “Hello! He’s trying to impress you. He wants you to notice him. How many times has he tried to impress you. He’s seeing you doing amazing things so he wants to improve. I’m not sure about him being a dad after that incident but he WANTS YOU BAD. Not only he finds you beautiful, he is sexually attracted to you.”
My chubby fat ass isn’t sexy. My friend said, “He thinks you’re sexy. Not every guy like slim women or hot women. Plus he’s chubby so he’s in your league.”

We’ll yeah. I’ve been chubby and overweight all my life, struggling to lose weight and I always fail. When at my heaviest at 295lbd he found me beautiful and he’s the only guy that noticed me. Well some other guys did too. Guys I want always wanted the thin or gorgeous girls. Or girls in shape. I never got the good looking or cute guy’s attention:

I don’t have the same feelings and I have told him that. He won’t GIVE UP

But he shoved a child and he was already an adult. He’s lucky he didn’t go to jail. My friends said he probably learned his lesson and he’s maturing and he wants to improve. He admitted seeing myself improving and being more sassy and feisty makes him more attracted to me. Then they told me to stop fighting this and accept him. Let him love me and give him a chance.
My best friend said people have time to grow and why am I being up old shit. She thinks im doing that to make him look bad and she would avoid dating him.
Im not trying to make him took bad. I don’t think he’s father material and he’s need someone more on my level and more mature. I know were both autistic but I need someone mature that has a job. He goes to a day program for adults with special needs but learning about job opportunities and whatever which is great.
