Is my male startup mentor just being supportive or is there attraction involved?

I’m a female tech startup founder and my mentor for my project is very high level and has sold his companies for hundreds of millions — he gives intros and like does weekly calls to ensure I’m on track and stuff. Sounds normal but most of my other mentors aren’t this invested in making sure I’m successful. We’re also friends and he includes me socially as well. But anyway, everyone online is kind of distorting my thinking around male-female relationships and says how men only do these things for women they find attractive so I can’t help but see things through that lens. We’re also still early in my startup process so not a ton of traction just yet but it’s going fine.

Friendships and romances bleed over. But know what romance doesn't blend with (for those not screwed in the head)? Siblings. If he initiates more contact than work justifies, then in that moment ask him if he does it because he wants to be like a helpful brother, or what other reason, just for fun.

If he is fine with you calling him a brother, then he's either not attracted, or weird. Discard either way. If he is uncomfortable by that label then he wants to do to you that which brothers don't do to sisters. Mentoring isn't it. ㅤ

He includes me a lot socially though too and has helped me through difficult times and seems to enjoy talking to me about personal topics as well. He also got really pissed once about this one guy in a business context who like wasted my time and was hitting on me.

If he's single then hit on him. Healthy humans always to lesser or greater extent reciprocate interest or lack there of.

Or like i said, next time ask him if he does it to be like a brother or just for fun.

So biologically all men are driven to maintain anything that has the potential to reproduce. So yes he is there because of that but that doesn't mean he has that intent. He could just want others to succeed. truly great men don't want to be on the top of the world alone.. They tend to want to share their success and help others reach their level.

I don't see anything so far but he could be trying to keep it professional to prevent it from getting messy. If you want something to happen, then you are going to have to make a move.
