Why would my boyfriend lie about moving to another state and not explain?

We’ve been on and off for about 4 years and when we were off it was never on bad terms we would still be talking just not together until recently we had gotten back together for 7 months but ended things recently because he had told me in January he moved away to another state without me knowing and without him saying goodbye. He didn’t want to explain to me why and we got into an argument over it and I just couldn’t take it and ended things but recently I had been seeing his car. And the other day I had saw his car with my friend and it was the same license plate and it’s been around 2 months since he’s told me he moved and, so now he didn’t really move? I just feel hurt and lied to because why would he do that to me when he could’ve just been honest I would’ve understood?

Just because he moved doesn’t mean he wouldn’t still come into town, whether it’s to see family, friends, or just visit. I moved an hour away from my city yet I’m almost always visiting. I have favorite shops, places I’m a regular at that I like to stop by. I have friends in town that I love to hang out with on certain nights. I have family in town that I come to see, whether it’s to attend their softball or basketball games, grab dinner, or just hang out. I don’t know why you’d assume that he wouldn’t have similar connections, or that moving away means you never come back.

Also, my old town is pretty damn small, so I’m almost always bumping into people no matter where I go. I’d hate to imagine someone thinking I lied about moving just because they saw me around.
