Why does he seek my attention but pull away when I talk to him?

This guy tries to get my attention a lot.

However what I noticed which is super odd - he doesn't really talk to me one on one and also when I do talk to him he pulls back.

I noticed this once in person and I noticed it over message too.

Tbh if i knew why I wouldn't be confused. It seemed random. They say things to me like stupid bitch, i hate you and that i should kill myself. I truly never did anything to her or her friends
