Why do men brag about stuff?

I know this one guy, and we stopped talking for a long time. We started talking again recently and he's been bragging about his parents' jobs, his girlfriend's job and saying that he was called into a leadership role in one of his interests. He never used to brag like this about himself.

All the things he's said are exaggerated or lies.

Same reasons women do. Attention. It’s not just a male thing. Maybe he’s somewhat narcissistic. Maybe he’s proud of his family as well as his accomplishments. Men tend to brag as well because they know a lot of women are impressed w materialistic things.

He blew me off previously for another woman he’d been dating. I’m assuming it’s the current one he’s talking about. The doctor.

Subs he’s just trying to make you jealous. Could be he’s proud of his accomplishments like I said. It could also be that he’s trying to belittle you for some reason.

Two possibilities:

1. He wants to impress you for whatever obscure reason. If you think he's into you, stay clear.

2. He's so arrogant and full of himself that he can't stand someone else getting along too. He's ego tripping. Stay clear or run away.
