He seemed really interested, so why hasn’t he called like he said?

He showed a lot of signs like he always stared at me whether long gazes from across the room or when I’m not looking and when I look up I caught him staring at me, he always made jokes with me, always around me, seemed he was kinda jealous when another guy showed me attention in front of him, made an excuse to be near me when he found out his friend and I were helping with an event together so he went to help out too. He was like hey and his friend joked that he took my name off the list for the event but he’s like no it was an accident I swear. We’re not dating but we see each other often in the same community. And now most recently I messaged him I’m going through a tough time since a close family relative passed away. He told me “I’m so sorry for your loss. This isn’t too much to tell me (when I told him sorry if it’s too much) I hope you’re feeling okay these days.” I told him thank you. Can you call me when you can? He told me “yeah, maybe after my class.” It’s been four days and no response. Did I push him too much for a call?

I saw him recently in person yesterday. He was helping with an event in the main hall. I did see him look at me. I waved at him, he waved back at me. But I don't know I guess I feel like he wants distance now. He didn’t approach me like he used to. Maybe I scared him off now. I passed by him to sit at a table near the door. I briefly saw him through the glass door and then I saw him get up from the table. My guy friend told me to give him time & reach out to him.

I messaged him “hey I’m sorry I didn’t mean to pressure you to call me. Take care.” He messaged “I wasn’t pressured. Sorry I was busy. I had an exam this week. I hope you feel better.”
