Do guys try to befriend almost every woman they meet?

I think many men are most fascinated by women, but this is sometimes conflated with the idea that they are also attracted to and want to have sex with women that they meet.

For myself, I enjoy talking to and interacting with women professionally because they are interesting and well-educated and usually have a good sense of humor as well. I Very consciously avoid trying to have sex with any of these women because it never turns out well, and things go bad very quickly. Most of them also have a very specific image of the man that they want to be with in mind, and I generally do not fit that image. That is okay with me.

I don't know. I won't say I see it all the time but i see it enough. It creeps me out. Three guys I run across all the time. Let's call them Mike, Robert, and Dufus. I honestly don't even know Dufus's real name. All in their late 50's to mid 60's. All single. All of them are desperate for attention from women. Any woman.

Being the introvert I am, I watch these pathetic fools in action all the time. They will all hit on ANY women of any age sitting or standing near them. And they are soooo fucking obvious about it. They are oblivious to body language and facial expressions, or they just don't care.

There is one gorgeous woman who is irrationally attached to me. She literally runs to me when she comes into a place and sees me. Even though I've never hit on her. I was the last to arrive one night and Dufus was desperately trying to chat her up. This guy is creepy looking and ugly as hell but wealthy. She was being polite but sitting with her back half turned away from him. He didn't take the hint. He was actually leaning over her shoulder with his face close to her trying to talk in her ear. The expression on her face was priceless. She sees me walk in and sit down about 20 feet away and she hops out of her seat and does her usual run to me, wraps her arms around my neck to hug me from behind, then starts massaging my shoulders while she's talking to me. Dufus is transfixed. He can't take his eyes off her. We talk for a while and she's leaning against the bar next to me, all smiles and touching me every other sentence. She eventually leaves and Dufus comes over to take a seat 2 places to my left. The dude is just staring at me. Like he's wondering "who the fuck is this guy". He's still wondering. I gave him no answers. But the main point of the story is that he will do this routine of absolutely pestering the shit out of 10 different women every time I see him.

The guy Mike is plagued with all sorts of problems, LOL. Knees, back, he's a fucking mess. Huge gut. But still desperate to get any woman to talk to him. He sort of attaches himself to my group from time to time. Nice guy but utterly unable to read women. More than once I'll be talking to some woman who approached me and Mike see's that as his opportunity to insert himself in the conversation by association. OK, a little small talk is fine. But he just doesn't stop. She gets annoyed. I get annoyed. And I finally have to tell him, "Mike get a clue buddy, can't you see we're trying to have a conversation here?" He's humiliated. But he never learns. 2 weeks later he'll do the same thing and I'll humiliate him again.

The guy Robert was hitting on a young like 22 year old college kid once and an older female friend of mine called him out, told him he was being a creep and that the kid wasn't interested. He's about 5'6" and wears a really bad toupee. He went off on her calling her a bitch and a cunt and accusing her of misreading the situation. I wasn't there but I'm 100% she was NOT misreading the situation. At some point he started claiming he was a friend of mine. I set that straight publicly and I haven't seen the little creep since. Again Robert will do this over and over again with every woman who is near him nonstop the entire night.

I see the same basic behavior from younger guys in their 20's, 30's, and 40's too. Not all by far but enough. It gives guys a bad reputation. And it's really cringe to watch.

I think no. Some guys don’t try to befriend every woman they meet. People usually form friendships based on natural connection, shared interests, and circumstances, not just because of gender. In most cases, interactions are just casual or situational rather than an effort to build a friendship with everyone.
