If it was 14 years ago, that puts you in your teens potentially or at least a very young age. A lot has changed in that amount of time.

That is a possibility, but you have try first. Depending on your prior relation, he'd at least follow you back to be polite. Maybe you'll be lucky, and he feels the same. He could be pining for you as I type this.
