Partly yes, and partly no, I'd say.

I think, a ''type'' is an idealised picture.

But that does not necessarily mean that other ''options'' are excluded (unless the 'man' has 'fetishes', or is 'compromised' otherwise).

Certain 'type' traits are kind of essential. Others perhaps not.

Example from my own life: my ''type'' is slender to borderline skinny. But several of my previous partners were... emm... a bit 'padded' - but they had other traits that more than compensated for not being visually perfect. I would assume that on the non-physical level it can be the same.

Anyhow - the ''essential'' traits must happen, or it doesn't happen overall.

Yes. In my own view no one knows absolutely all about their type anyway.

Most men have only a rough idea about what they may possibly find attractive (usually a narrow slice of reality). Some have a better defined type, but even they can't see their future perfectly.

Tl:Dr My point is that you can answer in two methods: 1. Yes, they may fall for someone who's not their type, 2. No, but there is no such thing as a perfectly defined type (Same result) - Sorry for getting philosophical lol

Of course it is possible; initial attraction for most people is largely cosmetic and intellectual. After that, anything can happen.

yes, because not everyone has a type and often a man will accept something that he's given because he's got limited options, and do what he can with that. We aren't talking about women who are the gate keepers, they have the selective ability because they hold the gate.
