Why is my ex suddenly avoiding me and refusing eye contact now?

I was seeing a guy for a little over 2 months. the week before he ended things he was wanting to see me every day even came to my workplace. The following week he broke up with me saying, he's not sure he's attracted to me, not sure if it's because he's got no stability in his life right now, not sure if it's just his mind and if this is a mistake he will come back. (all sounds like excuses to me).

We see one another at social dancing initially after he ended things, we danced together in a friendly manner, a few flirtatious comments here and there, gave one another a hug etc. This continued for maybe 3 weeks. one of our mutual friends posted a video of himself and I dancing and I'm not sure if the ex guy I was seeing saw that and it had something to do with it maybe?

initially after the breakup, I would catch him looking at me dancing with others and he and I would dance together. Now he Just avoids me completely. He walked past me the other night while I was outside and didn't even acknowledge I exist. avoids eye contact.

what's going on in his head and why can't he make eye contact?

a male friend of mind informed me this guy i was seeing at the time has a reputation as a player, the morning before this guy ended things with me
