Why doesn't my guy friend just tell me who he likes??

I have a guy who's a friend/acquaintaince of mine, and we get along cool and stuff. He's kind of shy, but nice-looking so a lot of girls flirt with him.

But for some reason he NEVER tells me who he likes! Even when I try to pry/hint at him liking a girl...he never tells me! Even though I KNOW for a fact that he's interested in this other girl.

Another thing I've noticed, is that he'll get kindof serious or quiet whenever I may figure out that he's interested in another girl. Or, he'll just playfully act like he doesn't know what I'm talking about. For example...just a couple of weeks ago I was over his house, and he was about to go out, and I just casually mentioned or asked him if he was going out, and he's like: "yeah". But he said it so quietly and so solemnly that it came across as really awkward!

I had a feeling he was going to go spend time with that girl he's interested in. But why does he feel like he can't just be open about it? Why does he feel like he has to hide it? How come he can't just say: "oh yeah I'm going to go hang out with Becky (or some friends etc..)". Does he think it will hurt my feelings or something?

Idk...

GUYS: why wouldn't you tell your girl pal who you like or what girls you're hanging out with? Why all the secrecy? Do you think it will hurt your girl pal's feelings or something if she knows you're spending time w/another girl? Do you think it's none of her business? DO you think he senses that I like him and he doesn't want to hurt me? Why tell each other everything but that?

GIRLS: Have you ever experienced this? If so, what do you think is going on when it happens to you?

YES! Me and my Guy Friend "Tennis" are friends too.

He never tells me who he likes, only who he thinks is cute.

I mean, he told me before in my freshman year he liked me,

and this year, I told him I liked him, but he said not to go for him.

I still like him. he never had a girlfriend and he;s scared of having one..

But recently he told me he likes someone, and I asked who and he said

"Sea-cret(; and idk..maybe he likes me.or idunno! MAYBE NOT!

he always texts me, and I'm number 3 on his MySpace,

the 2 are his 2 best guy friends. GUH. >_<

Guys will never tell you who they like. If you ask a guy who he likes then he's probably going to think that you like him or you want to get him with one of your friends. Just ignore the subject for awhile and he'll probably come and ask you to investigate what the girl he likes interests are and if she likes him .So just let him come to you

He might prefer not to talk about who he likes in case nothing comes of it. Or he might be a more private person than you are. If you are good friends he will share things with you when he feels ready to.

They reason he won't tell you is that he likes YOU.

That's why he's your friend - he's too much of a coward to pull the trigger and is hoping that you'll find what a great guy he is, fall in love with him and do all his work for him. That way, he doesn't have to take the risk of getting rejected.

Thanks for your response! I appreciate the input.

But we're not even SUPER-close friends. We're more like acquaintances really. But if were to ask me point blank whether or not I liked a certain guy, I would tell him honestly. I would have no problem telling him: "yeah I think he's okay." or "yeah I think he's cute...why?"

But he's so tight-lipped about the girls who he likes, and the ones who obviously flirt w/him. I KNOW he's interested in other girls, so I don't understand...
