+1 yI would never tell a girl to "go make me a sandwich!" If I find a girl, I know that she is my equal, and if I have any requests, I'll do so in a nice way. If a girl makes a sandwich for me, I want her to do so not because she is obligated to, but because she willingly wants to do so out of the goodness of her heart.
To say "go make me a sandwich!" seems kind of arrogant. I have no right to make demands like that. I can make polite requests, and that's it. I can say "I really like the sandwiches you make, and they're the best sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. Could you please make me your delicious sandwiches?" I have to do this sincerely. I can't praise her to flatter her to get my way. In fact, if a girl really loves me and really understands me, then I don't even have to ask. She'll know that I like her sandwiches, and will have no problem doing that for me. I won't take it for granted.
It might have a little to do with parents, but that's not going to solve anything. Sometimes, people that are arrogant are like that because they are used to getting their way, used to their parents making them food (they come home and they start to take things for granted), without realizing that it takes time and energy to do these kinds of things.
It is not completely due to parents though, just like it is not completely a joke. Sometimes it could be a joke, and that's fine. But it isn't always a joke.00 Reply

But, if you are going to be friends with a guy, you should expect jokes thrown your way. That's why I think they make much better friends. lol They entertain me so much more.00 Reply
+1 yLol usually it's done playfully, my guy friends use that phrase every so often when I'm being purposefully difficult and defiant. I did make one of my friends a sandwich though one time because I was feeling nice and giving. Lol we also have this joke where I'll say, " can you please do this for me?" and one is like..." well...what are you going to do for me?" Then I slowly drop to my knees as if to ready myself to give him oral xD it's always funny, and I try to do it in the most awkward and crowded places :P
I don't know, you can play along, but if your woman hood or irritation level feels really insulted - then tell him it's not very funny and kind of annoying. Naturally he's going to say something about you being offended because your a girl, just shrug him off and be like nah, your just annoying when you say it all the time.
Or you can surprise him and actually bring him a sandwich.
I got my bike fixed, lunch paid for, and borrowed a surplus of video games for a simple peanut butter and jelly.
Men are too easy to please lol :D22 Reply- +1 y

Men are too easy to please lol :D"
Ladies, there you have clear cut examples of the power of the Sandwich, and yet girls still think we're joking when that's what we say we want...
Bike fixed - free lunch - video games = For a simple PBJ!
The next time a man asks you to make him a sandwich, just think what a GREAT sandwich would be worth to him.
Then go make one. - +1 y
Lol the man has spoken (ooohmmm)
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yHonestly, I think its because they are jealous of the old days when women DID stay home, the men went to work and made the money, and when the man came home their dinner was on the table, if it wasn't then women got the third degree. "Where's my dinner? I come after a hard day at the office and all I get for dinner is this stuff?
I think its wishful thinking on his part, he would love to have a woman like that, but times have changed and now women refuse to let a man tell her what to do. :)00 Reply

Their mom took care of their father that way and if dad wasn't around, well they took care of your guy that way. Now, there are some guys that are aware that though they may have been raised this way they should not be asking their partner to do this, but they say it anyway to see if you will be up for taking over where mom left off or just to mess with you.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yIt's our version of a test.
You know how girls have their own tests that they make the boyfriend do? And never tell him his being tested?
(Don't lie. You know exactly what I'm talking about.)
Well this is the guy version of that test.
How the girl reacts will tell us everything we need to know about her long term prospects as a girlfriend.312 Reply- +1 y
Lol a test really? I think men are a wee bit smarter to test a girl's long term worth than whether she makes him a sandwich or not :P
Opinion Owner+1 yReally sweetness?
And when girls decide to test a man, it's always some incredibly profound insightful test, is it?
Hmm. He's watching the football. There's 10 minutes to go. He seems really into it. I wonder would he put me above this game? I know, I'll pretend I really need him to get me something from the store. Like urgently. And I'll see does he go now, or does he wait until the game is over.
Oh yeah, that's fair.
Opinion Owner+1 yIzzy, it wouldn't be much of a test if I gave you the answer.
Heck, I could be in trouble just for revealing it's a test in the first place. :p- +1 y
well I don't deny that I "test" a guy but the one you explained was kinda stupid. I don't need him to get stuff from the grocery store when he wants to watch football. However I would expect him to drive me to the hospital if I break my leg, even tho he was watching football. That goes without saying though. There are more important things to test
- +1 y
Yea I second what izzy said - besides, her willingness to make a sandwich, compared to him paying attention enough to her if she really needs something from him, is a lot steeper don't you think? Having a partner who is attentive and supportive, compared to one who can fetch a sandwich on command...eh. Maybe your thinking it reveals something deeper like her lowering her pride or something, or being able to do little things for her man. But still...not as profound
- +1 y
@sweet o ness, I'm wondering if there is something deeper in how he wants her to react. Like maybe it would be negative if she actually got up and made him one without questioning. Maybe I'd be negative if she got bitchy about it but positive if she laughed about it, or something like that
Opinion Owner+1 yI've had girls admit the sort of "tests" they come up with for their men. And it has nothing to do with going to the hospital when she needs to.
The example I gave (shops versus football) was one that a girl gave as an example herself.
Opinion Owner+1 yIzzy, you're getting closer.
Without giving the game away... the best sandwich is the unexpected sandwich, not the one that was made after a shouted demand :)
In fact, if I was to write a relationship advice book for women, I'd call it "The Unexpected Sandwich"- +1 y
uh...but the unexpected sandwich, has nothing to do with demanding a sandwich. Just like the guys unexpected favor, has nothing to do with the demand of a favor. I get being aware if he just adores his PB and J's, and you just decide to lighten his mood by bringing him one, but demanding a sandwich to purposely seek something of your partner seems kind of...deceitful. Same thing with the girl demanding favors of him.
- +1 y
well lthe girl you were talking to obviously doesn't know what she is doing. That is totally irrational. How does his unwillingness not get something from the grocery store when he watching football show that he doesn't care about you? That doesn't make any sense. I'm sure most guys would answer something like "I'll go in 10 min when the game is over" which is totally fine unless it's life death situation
So what would we able to read in "The Unexpected Sandwich"?
that's why we, men, are with you - women. and you should be a good girl and make him a freaking sandwich already.
you should be grateful and honored that he wants a sandwich from you.43 Reply- +1 y
lol. I've heard stories about women who poison their husbands food because they were expected to stay in the kitchen...So, do you want a sandwich? =P
- +1 y
Whoa... TEN downvotes!
I'm jealous.
As a joke or to get on your nerves
Although it's no joking matter to wonder why you're here on the internet, and not in the kitchen instead...43 Reply- +1 y

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIt's just a joke. Men always make sort of insulting jokes, especially at each other. If a male friend says it to me, I tell him to get back in his DIY shed :p
