Is having high standards a bad thing?

I have high standards. Is that a turnoff?

Having high standards is fine as long as you realize that you will probably never find a girl who meets them because no-one can be everything to another at all times. As well, if you're going to hold a girl to high standards then be prepared for the same treatment. Can you live up to another's standards?

Having high standards also means a very selfish approach to people. I expect you to be and act a certain way at all times. Do you take a checklist to every date?

It's a good thing... unless your standard are either unrealistic (combined with you not wanting to be alone) or you use your "high standards" as an excuse to not pursue any girl.

never unless they are too high. by too high I mean nobody will ever meet them. also not good to have high standards if they are very superficial. if you can't date somebody because they don't have the perfect body and hair and teeth, etc. then wake up you're dreaming. on the other hand if you have high standards for yourself and are simply looking for someone who is on your level then there is nothing wrong with that. no one should ever settle!

i have high standards and I know I'm also a high standard person---that is, but I'm reasonable---not every guy I meet will meet 100% of what I want. mostly iwant a guy who will meet at least 80% of my tick marks on my list...and furthermore if you give the impression that no one is good enough for you---sometimes it may seem fake or that you're a snob---lol (not saying you are btw)

Not really. It depends on what you're picky about. If it's silly little things such as her hair needs to look this way, she needs to be exactly this height, etc., then it can be a turn-off. Otherwise, I see nothing wrong with high standards. You need to be completely satisfied with the other person or things obviously won't work out.

Absolutely not. I think that you should choose what makes you the happiest. When people just 'settle' for their significant others, it always leads to unhappiness later on.

High standards are a turn-on. A lot of people, though, confuse having high standards with being high-maintenance.

I disagree. A person trying to live up to another's high standards and not being able to meet them would have to equate this with high maintenance.

A person wasting their time living up to someone else's high standards is an ass; you should live up to your own.

High-maintenance people, though, seek to make asses of others. It's what makes them so nasty to deal with.
