Obesity is ok in my book as long as people are well informed about the risks and consequences. People can make their own choices. However, when it comes to the push of saying it's supposedly "sexy"? It's just a bunch of women who don't want to take responsibility for their own choices and a warped thinking that if they tell men enough that it is sexy that the majority of men will actually think it is sexy which is completely retarded. It's not going to work so I wouldn't worry about it too much. If they want to continue pulling the wool over their eyes just let them. No sense in wasting energy on it
I agree with this. It's even more awful when they accuse men of liking unrealistic body proportions. Sorry girl but fitness models and bikini babes are FAR from unrealistic, but it requires the two things you simply don't want to do: Hard work and dedication!
I think you are not Understanding something here, People are not saying ''Being Super Morbidly Obese is okay'', As you seem to suggest with you're quotes of people who weigh 35stone+
People are saying, Its okay to be a couple stone overweight. People who can still work, And provide for themselves, and be happy, Its okay, There is nothing wrong with that. Its their life, Theyre not effecting anyone else, So, Why the fuck should anyone care?
People who may have a bit of a belly, Or, A Bit of flap here, But, Noone is saying super Morbid Obeisity is okay...
And as for ''Skinny Shaming''. I can honestly say i have NEVER witnessed this in my life. I don't know what the fuck you are on about with that one.
Because it's easier to eat food than get up and exercise. Plus I don't know about everyone else but here heathy food is rediculously expensive here, for example I saw the massive hype about chia seeds, I went to my local supermarket and found them, $12 for a tiny bag. Wasn't worth it to me. Coconut oil which is supposed to be very good for you, $15 for the smallest tub. It's like you have to be well off to be somewhat healthy, even fruit and veg is a ridiculous price, yet you can get a couple bags of chips/crisps for $1 and 99c fizzy drinks, 4 for 3 deals on chocolate bars. You don't ever see that with vegetables. It's not like "buy one capsicum get another free" or "get 200g of mandarins and we will give you a free 100g"
Of course if you're gonna look for the most expensive health foods, it'll be expensive. Chia seeds and coconut oil are not essential whatsoever to a heathy diet. Go with fruits and veg, rice, beans, that sort of thing. Don't buy those "superfoods" and eating healthy won't cost much at all.
A friend of mine at the beginning of the year became a vegetarian to try drop her weight. I asked her if she was sure because I knew her family struggled with money and it was going to be expensive, she did it Anyway, couldn't afford it after a couple months.
When it's due to illness or a glandular disorder or anything like that I can accept it. It's not their fault they got that way. When it is because they just constantly made poor personal choices over and over again and destroy their health and body because "willpower is too hard" then no I cannot accept that. I won't put them down for it or treat them any differently then anyone else either.
Where did you get that quote from? It sounds like it's straight from the Daily Mail. Don't believe anything that thing prints it's designed to make you angry, that's it's only purpose.
As for the issue, well it's just swings and roundabouts. You will always get people shaming others, I don't think a lot of people are buying the "curvy" thing, what worries me is lots of people are making themselves ill trying to slim or making themselves ill from bad diet and being overweight. Neither are good and both cost the nhs a fortune.
I don't know but this thing remind me of slut shaming. They are teased for being beautiful and successful among guys. But let's face it, much of it is just of jealousy. So don't you worry, @T-shirtsandkneehighs , you're doing it all okay and don't pay attention to those fuckers who try to make you feel bad for being good. I've been there and I know that these people must be ignored from my life. Hugs and love to all of you!
I think this is a great take, the government puts money into education and the system makes it essential
But while we throw TONS OF CASH into health infrastructure, the government doesn't attack the real problem
Instead they sit back and collect the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS from tax payers/medical corporations and so on all because obesity is more profitable than a healthy nation
And what's worse is they fule it with the shit system they have in place and the poison food they shovel at us making it harder for those trying to live healthy
Because it's easier to shame normal people into accepting obesity, than it is to get the fuck out of the chair and do something about your own problems.
It seems i pissed off some people. Just proves my point XD The truth is that 99,9% of all fat people are fat because they're not ating healthy and working out. Health is a choice and has always been a choice.
It's interesting everyone knows being obese is bad health wise, but it's been proven that overweight people live longer. I didn't say obese but slightly over weight.. No maybe having some extra pounds just might be good for all of us.
"it's been proven that overweight people live longer." I would be interested in seeing any of that "proof". Being overweight, even if not obese, causes problems to the body. Diabetes is often tied closely to weight and can cause many other problems. Extra weight also stresses the heart. Where is the "proof" you speak of?
I'm only stating the facts which you are as well. Sure we all know that eating to much or eating the wrong food can effect our health however you don't just automatically die from diabetes or high cholesterol let alone even catch well get it. Now I'm not encouraging people to be unhealthy and pack on pounds but all I'm saying is so what if you're not super tiny or average size when the facts show that we could be looking at this all wrong and they might just be the "healthy" ones... But again not obese but have a few extra pounds.
@RainbowFanGirl Thanks for posting the link. I had actually seen it on the news :)
Interesting article, but poses some questions. Like "Compared to people who fell into the normal-weight category:... Those classified as overweight with BMI 25-29.9 were 17% less likely to die." What does that mean? I would say that both groups are likely to die because nobody lives forever.
The article admits extra weight causes heart and diabetes problems as well as other, so how does that work? One suggested answer was that being at risk, overweight people got screened more and received medications that normal weight people did not, so the medications probably overcame the risks caused by overweight, so it was the meds not the weight that gave longevity.
The article ended with "And this certainly doesn't mean that people who are normal weight should go out and binge on ice cream to gain a few pounds." The article was clear that the extra weight increases risks and usually impacts quality of life.
Didn't bother to read article anyway like I said heard it on the news, and like you said the medicine helps us live longer lives now healthy people apparently see the doctor less and don't get meds that help them live longer lives so you answered your question. It may be the meds but it's due to these illnesses. Healthy people have no reason for the need and apparently their lives are shorter.
Honestly it's whatever it doesn't really matter anyway.
I know some people can't help it or try really hard and train but have trouble losing it, but it is still a problem being unhealthy is not a good thing, nor is it an attractive feature. But instead of tearing down those that suffer from it we should build them up, help them to get healthier, stronger, better. So that they can live long and happy lives.
Meh if they want to excuse poor eating and zero physical activity then let them die at 46 of a heart attack... There's plenty of darwin awards to go around. A lot of fat people got them for getting stuck in things and starving to death or farting themselves to death in small rooms.
Beauty comes in all sizes. Health doesn't. But healh is a personal matter, so we should try to improve ourselves, not to judge others.
And it's not only laziness or a physical illness that makes people being unable to loose weight. Some people eat for psychological reasons, because they aren't happy with their lives. Others have different priorities than loosing weight and exercising, or don't have enough money to eat healthy. A great deal of people don't know how to eat right and how to exercise and keep their weight normal..
Yeah. I ate too much because of depression. Dieting made me feel absolutely miserable and exercise just wasn't fun to me.
Things have changed for the better now, luckily. and I dunno about the financial argument... A vegetables and meat dinner made from scratch is much cheaper where I live than ordering fast food. I'd say it's laziness first and foremost.
@Remonster Keep it up! Definitely eating homemade food costs less that ordering fast food. But eating homemade pasta or rice and meat is cheaper than eating fish and a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.
@Remonster Most people say half your daily calorie intake should be fruits and vegetables and that you should eat fish at least once per week. That's a lot, especially if you have a family, but definitely woth it. Here apples are cheap, but salmon is very expensive. Generally I prefer fresh fish though
I can agree with some of this because anyone can make these choices but it always comes down to people making excuses. I'm not saying a few extra pounds are bad but when someone constantly complains about being overweight then hides behind genetics and other crap like that it's a bit much to see their daily activities involve sitting on the couch watching tv while eating junkfood as a meal. It's not about others opinions it's about taking care of yourself so you don't have to develop a lot of serious health issues. Tv is fine why not get a treadmill and walk or jog while watching or even a cheap weight set. Add smart snacking on top of a little exercise can make a huge difference. People also throw money into the mix but in reality a bag of name brand chips are over twice as much a bag of celery. It's all easy when it becomes routine. I'm not telling people how to live I'm just saying if you want to lose weight stop making excuses you can do it don't think just do it.
I get so annoyed when I see all the skinny shaming bullshit, and "real girls have curves" nonsense. Curvy does not equal fat. In fact, many truly curvy people are actually very slim as curviness is down to the shape of your body, not your weight. I work out, and I am a slim size 8 however I understand there is still work for me to do in order to get a beautiful body... but does that mean I am going to start skinny shaming Miranda Kerr? No
As for obese women hiding behind curvy, i totally agree with you. As for the nhs, even if you didn't have universal healthcare it would wind up costing you. here in the states the increase in obesity related diseases causes the cost of medical care to increase, so the only ones who win are the drs and the insurance companies.
skinny shaming originates from fat people who are just pissed off at them selfes that they can´t get in that shape (because of lazynes).
fat shaming is strangely enough considered bad because the people can´t help but being fat (which is totally stupid). the only reason why fat shaming should be bad is because it might induce a depression or make a depression worse.
In older days with less advanced medicine, natural selection would take care of balancing out unhealthy people. But modern medicine allows the human body handle larger amounts of body fat.
Now I'm not saying everyone should strive to be thin or that thin is the only attractive body size for women, I'm saying that people should strive to remain in the healthy range of body fat.
There comes a certain point where (BMI aside) someone just has way too much body fat and that will have its own consequences, but hey, modern medicine has their back.
Unless hospitals start taxing obese people significantly more the same way car insurance companies tax drivers who get into accidents more, I don't see much progress occurring.
People will want to feel comfortable in their skin regardless of whether their body fat is healthy or not.
Personally I'm at 26% body fat. For my height and age, 23% is the ideal body fat.
Fat-acceptance is simply ridiculous. I like chubby girls as well as slim girls, but it's asinine to promote the former as "real, natural and healthy". It's not and it will never be.
I'm fat, yes. But at least I realize that humans are meant to be slim, or slightly chubby at worst.
Because overweight people these days want to feel good about being overweight. Plain and simple. Despite their insecurities about themselves, they want to constantly tell themselves that it's completely okay. That way, they don't have to do anything or make any effort to better themselves. It's disgusting.
I have a friend that went from being thin to over weight in a summer because he was just fucking lazy. We're talking about some girl and I tell him to work out with me, he gets offended and says if a girl won't accept him (being fat) then he doesn't want to be with her, I'm like, man, YOU shouldn't accept being fat.
Articles like these are so hypocritical... you talk about women nit picking at skinny women but your nit picking at bigger women, some bigger women also have hormonal or thyroid problems OR it's genetic... i'm big because of genetics, a lot of people on both sides of my family are big, so shut your pie hole, GAG need to have a rule against these sort of posts, GAG you are shameful for promoting such terrible articles.
