Thanks so much! I've spent countless hours doing self-research because no one in my family is very active or fit. Definitely have had a lack of mentors by way of nutrition. So I'd love to share what I've learned, maybe help someone out!
But Quest bars are like 3 fucking bucks each. And Whole Foods is damn expensive too. That Ezekiel bread is a really small package and probably more expensive than other bread in the store. You get what you pay for... eating healthy won't be cheap.
eating healthy can be cheap if you tried and you have to be smart its not the same of course but you will do the best you could i sense that lots of people complaining about eating healthy isn't cheap is just lame excuses.. eating healthy doesn't have to be complicated.. you can watch this vidio and search for simillar ones : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKpBNp5Lj0g
It all depends on your tolerance level and your overall health / blood sugar. I know I can handle a little bit of orange juice and drink it for the vitamin c but I agree that high quantities of it is not recommended.
Your blood sugar doesn't change immediately - it takes time for it to grow past the diabetic threshold or go into the safe zone so if you are in the safe zone then you are fine.
That is true, but regardless of being a diabetic or not, blood sugar spikes happen. They're generally not good for your body. Do you test your blood sugar level regularly or something?
I have not tested my blood sugar in about 6 years but around 6 - 18 months ago I was having issues with being dehydrated after drinking large amounts of water. Sometimes I'd drink 1 litre and still feel thirsty. I changed my diet and now I'm pretty much normal. I only need about 250 - 500 militres when I wake up in the morning. Before I needed about 2 litres or more.
Good myTake! I think most people take products at face value and don't check the label! In my household, we're not allowed fruit juice, no matter how much I love it because it's full of sugar! It's a shame. :(
Not all fruit juice is created equal. Freshly squeezed juice is not terrible as an occasional treat. When it comes to commercial juice you should avoid the juices that say 'made out of
Well just type in google (woman dies from diet coke) and you will find many articles about this issue. I would say it was pretty dumb for her to switch tea with diet coke, who would do that anyway O_o.
I myself eat healthy and don't eat all of this sweets/drinks/energy drinks etc rather than that I have drinks made from real fruits by using blender and so on. Lately I have decided to Body Building, I'm a slim tall guy but just don't know where to start, any suggestions pal?
P. S I don't believe in Protein shakes etc and I wouldn't even touch them with a stick.
Ohhh I read that wrong at first. I thought you were saying she died from switching diet soda for tea. I was like Whaaaattt? Ya Diet soda is toxic. Anyone who is anyone realizes it. Some people ignore it because they are addicted, and that's fine for them I guess.
I'm tall 6'2, and an ectomorph. I earn every. single. pound. I gain, I'm very, very skinny naturally. You have to lift weights with massive intensity 5-6 days a week and eat like a horse. Go to bodybuilding. com and read everything. You have to consume 300-500 grams of clean carbs a day and about 200 grams of protein each and every day. You literally have to eat like a horse.
@Consultant Have you ever thought about the possibility that bulking itself, no matter whether it's on a clean diet or not can be harmful as well? Yes your diet is clean, but you're overloading your body with such large quantities of food that I personally can't fathom how it's good in the long run for your system. Does that even get discussed?
You know what's healthy? Having a varied diet containing appropriate amounts of nutrients. Don't listen to all of these "sugar-free" or "gluten-free" fads.
bingo! "sugar free" does 9/10 times mean "we just used an other type of sweetener that's possibly even more dangerous to you". And "gluten-free" doesn't do jackshit. Gluten is not unhealthy at all, and the only people needing things gluten free are those alergic or intollerant to it (and those will die or get ill if they get it, not get fat) Natural food like vegetables, fruits, low fat meat, fish (really good for you)... and make things from the botom and up. THAT is, as you say, how you do it.
And remember people, this isn't a slave diet, this is a general guideline. It IS ok to treat yourself to some sweets at times, just not every day or several times per week. Ever heard of the 5/2 theory. It's simple really. As long as you eat PROPERLY 5 times per week, it won't really affect you if you eat a little unhealthy (like some coke, chocolate, maybe some chips...) the last 2 days. Though, it's still recomended to not go crazy with the calories those two days.
A varied diet can still be filled with plenty of junk though. This guy is merely trying to outline a few foods which are marketed as healthy, yet most certainly aren't.
Quest Bar has a cookies and cream flavor, only 1g of sugar and 1g of erythritol (artificial sweetner not nearly as destructive as aspartame, it's on par with xylitol). Try it out!! Get it off Amazon, they are my Fav!
great take I know that fruit juices are a scam but didn`t expect that they contained as much sugar as sodas I thought the sugars in them was from fructose good eye opening take
tl:dr whole wheat bread is actually not good for you either. In fact, fuck all grains (including rice), they all contains lectins and ruin your gut. After eating rice and bread for 20 something years, it was hard to give it up but I've done recently. Haven't touched them in months.
True. The same goes for legumes when consumed in larger quantities. And the whole 'eat more fiber' hype is bullshit. Too much fiber is even worse for your body than eating too little fiber is.
True, it's just that most fruits contain a lot of sugars and blending them into a smoothie essentially gives you a cup of concentrated sugar with vitamins and fiber. Certainly not bad in moderation, though. If home-made like you said.
@Remonster Are you against eating fruits too, because of their sugar contents? tbh I rarely drink smoothies, simply because I prefer to chew the fruits. I'm just sceptic of anyone who advises people to cut out a whole food group for health reasons and eat supplements instead to get the vitamins from that food group.
Yeah, I think this is a really great Take, but I agree about the fruit juices. Pure fruit juices are vastly more nutritious than sodas--comparing them solely on sugar content dismisses the fruit's natural properties.
Like you said though, @bubble_tea, eating the whole fruit is always the best way to consume them. I use a vitamix blender to make my own whole fruit smoothies and they're amazing and incredibly nutritious. :)
@DodgersGM I've stopped purchasing fruit juices and smoothies after learning that most of them are made of concentrated fruice juice (which sounds only minimally better than sirup) and those made from real juice and fruits are standing around for too long to have any nutritions left. Someone who studied agriculture told me that those vitamins get destroyed by light and air, so after 10 mins of standing around there's little left. The odd times I buy one, I do it for the taste and not for the nutrients. So actually he is somewhat right.
Homemade smoothies are a different story. It’s even a clever way to consume raw vegetables that would taste really awful when eating alone.. ^^
As far as bread goes it should not be a daily staple. Even whole grain bread isn't all that good for you. I can't help eating it though, a good sandwich is heavenly.
Ever tried rye or spelt or sourdough bread? It's nice.

You are welcome! And yes, it does look like you put a lot of effort in this myTake. So thank YOU :)

Long time ago I have heard in news that some woman in UK replaced tea with a diet coke or pepsi and after like month or bit more died.
I'd be interested to read that, and what are you suggesting?

My whole life was a lie. Bye bye coke zero.
Thanks for a great post :)
Lol thanks brother. Good luck on your goals!
But but but... I NEED THAT CALORIES BRUH!
CALORIES IS ANABOLIC!
Clean calories > Dirty calories.
You think bodybuilders get their calories from chicken, oats, rice or from fruit loops and packaged shit?
You know what's healthy? Having a varied diet containing appropriate amounts of nutrients. Don't listen to all of these "sugar-free" or "gluten-free" fads.
I listen to science, not marketing.

It may be unhealthy but that cookies n cream bar looks really good.

Thanks man I really appreciate it
great take

Ya it is surprising brother! Next time you are doing your grocery shopping compare orange juice and soda yourself.
I will keep an eye open for that
Brilliant myTake :) Thank you.
Any thoughts on the pegan diet?

BUT fiber help your digestive and bathroom problems.
Good take! I totally agree, especially with the bread thing! I love Ezekiel bread. My family does most of the food shopping at TJs and Whole foods.
What about Quest bars like peanut butter jelly, cookie dough, brownie, apple pie, and strawberry cheesecake flavors?
There are fruits with a low GI, so you don't have to curse all home-made smoothies.
I agree with everything else.
True, it's just that most fruits contain a lot of sugars and blending them into a smoothie essentially gives you a cup of concentrated sugar with vitamins and fiber. Certainly not bad in moderation, though. If home-made like you said.

As far as bread goes it should be "100% whole GRAIN" or nothing.
As far as bread goes it should not be a daily staple. Even whole grain bread isn't all that good for you. I can't help eating it though, a good sandwich is heavenly.
