If this is really so important to you, you clearly have an issue. How about you get a hobby. A dog or something.
Everyone in perfect in their own way. Small, big, what have you - no need to change. And if you "work hard to maintain" your "fit waist", you're putting way too much pressure on yourself to fit society's standards. Why are you so afraid of fat people? Why does their self image threaten you? Everyone has their own struggles, and maybe the big girls who call themselves curvy are just trying to put up with their natural body shape which is not what society wants them to have. From what you said about working hard, your natural shape isn't "curvy" either. Why do you fight your own body? It's so dangerous.
Personally I prefer someone who "sugarcoats" their figure instead of over-exercising or restricting to lose weight. EDs suck and you're not helping!
@bumhug0811 I couldn't reply to your opinion so here I go: YESS!!! You go!! Your body is perfect just the way it is! Why care about labels? Why are they so important? Also, myTake Owner (why anonymous?), your reply is too sad. YOU just posted a huge myTake with pictures and all on this stupid topic, and now you claim it's "sad" when someone writes a few sentences on it? Which myTake is actually THERE for? You're the one who's bothering with something so irrelevant, and you don't know how to deal with critisism. I suggest you work on your attitude.
Girl. Maybe she just likes looking good and feeling confident about her body without lying to herself. Maybe she just like being HEALTHY! you know that thing that they suggested in health class. That thing that you should do everyday. It's called exercise and instead of being shamed for doing it she sold be admired and for the people how are too lazy to, they shold not be glorified as the good guy.
@AbbyKay Bigger girls can be healthy too. There are so many athletes that are neither skinny nor curvy. The idea that healthy equals slim is so wrong and dangerous. Also, accusions like "fat people are just too lazy" just feed eating disorders.
Ok name a fat athlete. And not someone who's sport is something that is barely active. Name one because I can't think of a single one. Also how else are they fat if apparently fat people exercise too? I don't know a single fat person who exercises
Thank you totallycrushed. I've struggled with my weight since I was a child and long ago I had to learn to love myself no matter how much I drop or gain. I'm pregnant with my 3rd child now and I love my big belly! Do I care if anyone else likes it? Nope! I also have two little girls, one tall and skinny, one tall and chubby, and they're both absolutely gorgeous. I don't like this way of putting women down (or impressioning young girls into thinking they're not worthy of love and attention) just because not everyone is built the same. It's ridiculous to say the least. The reason you couldn't comment (and me either because I had a few choice words for her) is because she blocks anyone if they don't agree with her. Sad that she can put big girls on blast but can't handle them defending themselves. Oh well. Good thing she went anonymous on this or she'd be inundated with the fat girls telling her how wrong she is.
@AbbyKay here you go:bleacherreport. com/articles/1489154-20-current-fat-athletes-who-are-still-more-athletic-than-you Some people are fat with muscles, too (many weight lifters). @bumhug0811 Aww congrats on your pregnancy! The way this girl handles other people's opinions is ridiculous. But you don't have to be a bigger girl to agree that this is a terrible post. I'm naturally normal weight (currently still underweight but working on it) and I think this is insane. And yet there are so many people who agree with her... Unbelievable.
I mean, the women in both photos above would be considered curvy... curvy can be "fat" or curves in just the right places. Regardless, I don't like how either sides lash at each others body types as being less of a woman. We're all real women. These debates pretend to be about health when it's more about egos.
Being healthy is what's important. And sometimes slapping yourself with the label curvy is saying “It's okay that I'm unhealthy.” But it's not. You may be predisposed to being overweight but that doesn't make it okay. I'm naturally as thin as Chanel Iman, but I'm not prancing around saying I'm like a supermodel. It's not okay that I'm so thin. I'm comfortable in my skin while working to be healthier. That's what overweight girls should strive for.
Look in my personal opinion curvy is a broad term but when speaking of a curvy woman I think martine mccutcheon she's got a medium frame and a lot of people would make the ridiculous statement of calling her fat
In my opinion she's one of the most beautiful women in the world
She has recently had a baby and she's glowing her curves are fluent and pronounced and she has a little belly on her and every judgmental fuck can eat a Dick
You are right. Its funny when fat people call themselves curvy. However, we have to go case by case. Some people look gorgeous when they are slightly overweight and ugly when they are skinny. In my opinion both women on the picture are pretty. While the woman on the right is slightly overweight she has a pretty physicue and it suits her looks.
I agree with u. And actually, we should not celebrate a fat figure. I mean, it's not ok to be anorexic like models and actresses but it's not ok also to be overweight, cuz it's bad for our health, u could have heart diseases, diabetes, pcos and much more.
Terms like this can be lumped in with BBW because they are made to spare the feelings of people. These days, nobody is allowed to just describe someone as they are because the left wing is conditioning people to be hyper sensitive about everything. I also think that it's just easier to call yourself attractive by using a word that is sugar coated than it is to work out and eat healthier.
Curvy is just the latest buzzword that people throw around and its appeal lies in its ambiguity. Anyone with curves is technically "curvy". A sphere is pretty curvy.
I say let's stop beating around the bush, drop this curvy nonsense, and say what we're really thinking - hourglass is where it's at.

You are right it is all about the hip to waist ratio. So you can be skinny and curvy or thicker and curvy. Fat people just say that in hopes to try to make others think they are not fat but rather curvy. Sadly it seems to be working on the majority of the population. I completely agree with your mytake :)
Well, there wasn't much tact but the bare bones of what you said are right. Curvy is a shape, not a size. You can not be curvy and be a big size. Generally (so I have been told- so it's not a die hard rule) pear shapes are more curvy and apples are more of an 'athletic' figure. When you gain a lot of weight, I you lose the definition of that shape... So it's tricky to get a balanced view...
Very common for okcupid users to say curvy instead of fat and then they usually have a double chin or a huge gut hanging over their waist when you meet them in person. I don't get the point of that.
And I won't lie I actually like girls with some thickness or a little bit of a belly compared to skin and bone but I've met a lot who are much bigger than their profile let alone pictures suggest. I just don't get it. No matter what body type, height, etc you are, you may as well be honest because you're not gonna be able to hide it in person.
This is exactly why the world is so fcked up now... Its simple lol. People need to learn how to just MIND THEIR OWN BUISNESS!! Im not fat but I can carelessif fat people decided to call themselves curvy. I mean LIKE I JUST DONT CARE because it has no effect on my life whatsoever & it shouldny have any effect on yours either! Stay off the internet for a couple weeks

It might not have a effect on you but it certainly does on me and curvy women in general. The more fat women start calling themselves curvy the more the word becomes synonymous with fat. Sooner or later curvy will just be another word for fat. So all the work that I and countless other women have done just to achieve this figure in a society where being skinny is an expectation, would have been for nothing. I don't care what other people call themselves, I only care when doing so comes at the detriment of other people.
Why tf are you spending your time on trying to "acheive" a body figure that "society" wants you to have? You're insecure thatd why and im done talking to you because this will clearly go nowehere because you're head is stuck up your ass. Get off your high "curvy" horse!
I am only human, I still have wants and desires. I want to be attractive just like any other person. Men won't be attracted to me if I was fat, because society deems fat as undesirable. If you think that makes me an insecure women then that's your opinion.
What im saying is even if YOU think you're attractive or have the body society wants you to have ther is ALWAYS gonna be someone that finds a flaw, so you have to do it for YOU not for society because society will nevet be satisfied
@ whoever decided to write thiis mytake... why are you upset about what others refer to themselves? How old are you anyway? Respect others opinions, like others respeced yours. Isn't that what gag is about, clearly your missing the point. Don't shit on anyone else's parade, because you're feeling some type of way, because of what they label themselves. I am as old as you, and even I know better. And ps. I am far from being fat, let's just make that clear.

I don't care what people label themselves, I only care when doing so comes at the detriment of other people. Like it or not labels are what defines us and they have an important impact on society. Gay, straight, veteran, your name all have their importance. And when people start attaching negative concoctions to a label is when people start getting pissed because it affects them as well. It's the same reason why calling yourself a police officer when your not one is a crime.

Ahem... fat people can be curvy too... It just depends on the proportion and where the fat is stored more. And the body shape. Apples are not curvy. Nor are inverted triangles. Nor are squares like Kate Upton. Even though they are slim, they are not curvy.
Hourglass shapes and pears are curvy. It'd all about the waist to hips ratio. And boobs. And butts. It's called "curvy" for a reason. It's not calls "rolly" nor is it called "as long as she's slim, she's curvy".

Yes fat women can be curvy but you can't be curvy just because you're fat.
If a fat girl wants to call herself curvy then so be it, everyone else will still refer to her as fat. Being overweight is not healthy, they can put a cute little twist on the word fat by saying 'more to love' or whatever but at the end of the day, their health will suffer for it - due to fat. Call it what you want, not gonna change the fact that it's not good for your health in the long run.
THANK YOU. Curvy is like Anna Nicole Smith when she was in Playboy and alive. I hate it when someone says they're curvy on a dating profile and it turns out they look like the pictuer on the right. #FalseAdvertising

Being fat usually hides curviness because they have too much fat in the waist area.
@DarkHumorRUs Fat or not if they can't measure out to the waist to hip ratio because of fat then they are not curvy... they are fat.

It's because in our society, "fat" has been made out to be a dirty word. So being able to see rate themselves from it is a goal of theirs.
Carlos Mencia got it right back in the day, "either be fat and happy.. orrrr. Lose weight".
And what happen when he came back a couple years ago? He was thinner lol

Fat people are not curvy, but fat people can be curvy. Get what I'm sayin'? Good.
Exactly! I admire your honesty ^_^
Amen! Preach it! You nailed this take! People are too sensitive about this shit

Yes fat women can be curvy but you can't be curvy just because you're fat.
Why anonymous?
Afraid of something?
Yes, curvy is not fat, but it also isn't skinny.
Wide hip shape + a smaller waste = curvy
Lol, you would be afraid too if some fat sumo girl would hear you say that she is not "curvy" :P
@ChocoLada Not really...
Big boobs+big butt+tiny everything else=thin and curvy
As you can see this has pissed of a lot of people and I'd rather not have a face attached to that hate.
Oh... please... I don't see pissed off people... just people. o. O
LOL, but what would you do if you find out that some really big girl is pissed off at you?
