Video games aren't harmful to your health, it's when people who're idiots and have no self control or super suggestible minds play them that it goes wrong. It's like when people go "OMG GAMES TURN KIDS INTO MURDERERS". No they don't, idiots kids with no supervision do that and ruin it for everyone else. What a bunch of baloney.

well nothing else better to do in life, all my dreams and wishes never will come true even if i turn off the game console etc
usually these "game addiction" postings are from people who have a life handed to them so they look for excuses to judge others who dont have a life
so get over it, entertainment is here to stay, its been around for thousands of years.

Video games are harmful if you spend so much time on them, just as everything else.
    Everything needs a limit.

Nah fam. No o e is taking my games. Plus, if I go out for things other than school or work then I would have to deal with more people I dislike than I already do. XD

i never said you had to stop playing video games. just using some of the tips to making gaming a healthier habit can save u in the long run from bad eyesight and bad vision in general, back problems or hunchiness, bruised and ruined fingers and cramped, strained muscles, and problems sleeping or lack of sleep. just trying to help.

It sucks that gamers get such a bad reputation from greasy nerds in their parent's basement. Some of us play games, work out, work, have friends and can sit straight in a chair... it's not that complicated.

These are great tips Bri. Luckily I am deeply involved in playing hockey and don't have much time for gaming but these are great takes for people who are serious gamers.😀

One day last summer I was up all night playing a video game. I was playing and all of a sudden I notice the sun coming in the window. It was 6:30 AM!

I figured there was no point in going to bed then so I played until 8:30 and then went to work.

I did actually LOL. I know it looks like I was so eager to spew my story that I jumped to the comment section. I agree; it is unhealthy sitting for that long. Unfortunately my job entails the same kind of sitting in front of a terminal.

The only side effect I experienced from hardcore gaming is that I lost most of my life.

Actually it does. Staring at a screen constantly means that your eyes are focused on a single object that is a fixed diayance away, over time the lens in our eyes? That flexibe little muscle that lets us see clearly whether its further away or closer? Yeah it wears down a d will eventually become almost stuck in the position ti allow you to see the screen best. But it will have trouble focusing on everyday life.

@BaileyisDarcy ok, you don't care for a single source? want me to post more that are way more credible? sitting too close or looking at a screen for too long can strain your eyes temporarily, but does no permanent damage to your eyesight to the point where your focus gets stuck. that's not how muscles work. also, if i post another link, i'd like to know how a video game design trainee knows more than a dude who studied in med school and is an ophthalmologist...

There was a period in my life where I would play dota 2 for 12-16 hours a day for a week every now and then while partaking in tournaments. was it healthy? Probably not but I survived. Was it a great life experience? definitely.
