I think it's more important for women to learn self defense for protection, any trained fighter knows on the streets that you're suppose to diffuse any situation and not just straight up kicking ass.
Usually around $100 a year, most places let you come train every day all day long for that, so the more time you spend, the less money you spend per day.
And you can become competent in 3 months, you'll be downright proficient by your first year.
I didn't say anything about competition, I said she'd be competent. Like, in class. Competent at sparring and drilling and rolling and stuff, I didn't say she'd be the next frickin' Karate Kid, Yo.
I just assumed that she wasn't asking how long until she could tap Buchecha. I thought she was asking, "how long until I can throw two kicks in a row without losing my balance?" more or less.
Oh Iโm sorry. I asked because I donโt know the process of the sport. And when I asked to master up. I thought there were levels and steps of it. ๐ถ
@Bananaman177 makes a hell lot more sense.. lol I couldn't understand your knowledge level to that drop suddenly.. I thought noooooo No don't get my girlfriend hurt...๐คญ
There are belts but that's to me a mental status @Bananaman177 when do you test first? If you go up one rank a year to me that's about right but most probably belt about 6-8months Good styles of fighting=less colored belts I did not do competition for gosh a couple years
I'm not saying that some women who are like men but born in a female body can't beat a regular punk male, but when it comes to a real man, no matter how much MMA you learn, don't ever try it unless you wanna fall unconscious or with broken bones.
holly holm could mess soem guys up. dont tlak to wowgirl about holly holm though because holly fights south paw and wowgirl said south paw is a made up media term
Females please train primarily in BJJ. Kickboxing because most females are flexible. In street fights 7 out if 10 fights end up on the ground please learn bjj first before any striking styles. If u take any of these options please make sure they spar and actually make ur opponent fight back to see which move works
dont listen to wowgirl. she's a bully who tried calling me outon my mma knowledge and embarrassed herself. she said south paw was a made up media term that isn't used in fighting, she also said wrestling isn't part of mma. what an airhead
She should know MMA for 1 to 1 combat defence. and karate, kung fu etc for group attack defence. So that she can protect herself from molesters, dominators etc.
well i never went for MMA, but it was my dream, but my parents didn't allowed , i learnt shaolin Kungfu, , 3E combact system, pekiti tersia kali, muay chaiya.
My husband knows quite a bit about different types of the art. I don't care to learn probably would feel different about if it wasn't talked about all the damn time
And by "weirdos", we mean the same guys that got bullied in K-12 may have to put up with it again when trying to get a date. That's what most women are like nowadays.
Well women in some ways are better at MMA because I have seen them be even more brutal than men Gina Carrano used to beat her opponent's asses so bad and I loved it
Guys fight smarter and like you said to win I noticed just the past few weeks how different it is sparring with a man compared to a woman. Just the pace alone
If your trained fighting someone who's not is considered a b$#@h move in MMA I wish I had your outlook If I ate Taco Bell I'd be depressed for weeks about it. Sucks man... eat some for me
I once ate clean for 6 months and have been on crazy diets where I would not eat fat but now I need something good like a cheesesteak or tacos or something lol
Well because of my crazy dieting I went on a diet before where I wouldn't eat for 3 days then I ate a whole chocolate cake then I didn't eat again for days and doing stuff like that gave me fatty liver and I gained more weight but then years later I dropped around 50 lbs now my liver doesn't look fatty but I still put a little weight back since. My thyroid is underactive it sucks.
No Idea I am in much better shape now though the only time my sugar ever went up and was a problem I stopped drinking soda just drank water and fixed it
Ah yes, Krav Maga. . . . I remember this artist who thought she could kick my ass because she took Krav Maga a few times. Meanwhile I was going to the gym every day, then I took MMA.
@Wammu Well, Krav Maga does not have competitive fights because you target zones like the groin the throat or the eyes, which is potentially deadly or at least very dangerous (that's why Krav Maga is not a martial art). However, there is still some sparring with the basic moves you learn (simple punches and kicks, hammers...). MMA is probably a bit better for general "bare hand" fighting but Krav Maga is for self defense, disposing quickly of an attacker (or even multiple), sometimes armed, not for having a nice fight.
You don't need competitive, and Krav Maga is great, but you have to have full contact sparring with gear. Why? There is a difference between training and being in a situation when the OTHER guy wants to stomp your face. That shit IS scary AF!!! Most people freeze when that happens. At least a spar can prepare you (though not enough) for that situation.
@GreatnessBack Yes, I definitely agree. Once in a self-defense course (not Krav Maga), we did some sparring with protective gear and the guy I was facing did not have much experience. He was kind of scared and did not dare to strike me unless I stroke first. He was always backing up, tense and a bit shaking. It sure helps a lot.
It only takes one kick to knock out a man or a woman. A well trained women can generate a ton of force more then enough to knock out a man and visa versa. Yes men generally are bigger stronger faster which is a advantage. Skill rules. It is possible I could catch my boyfriend with a kick and knock him out even though he is bigger and stronger. He dont know much about fighting MMA or have the training.
It's funny to see women training so hard and actually thinking that they could stand a chance against a man in an actual fight. Ronda Rousey, on her best day, could be taken out by most 40 year old fat guys.
Im not in MMA but I have taken self defense course and my brother (boxer) taught me how to fight and gives me tips. I hate feeling helpless and I do not want to be an easy target just because I am a girl
Even as a guy I think it's a great idea as it has helped me a lot. I just train sparcly with friends and occasionally a professional but just going through the basics in at home training helps tremendously

Wow 😀
How, much are the classes? And how long does it take to master up? 😶
Classes very. it's a sport that is endless in mastering
It's my therapy
Does it involve getting bruises? Sounds intense ๐ถ
Good thing youโre letting stress/steam off ๐
You get hurt yes

@Bananaman177
Thank you ๐
@Bananaman177 no
No on training time
I honestly dont know who your in competition with after 90 days? No credible instructor would allow that I'm sorry.
@Bananaman177 wrestling?

What is 'real man', a coward with a gun in his hand and covering on his face that has no idea how to even pull the trigger?
@CubsterShura Real men don't hurt women.
We don't have to defend outselves against real men then. Chill.
@CubsterShura
Good girl
@CubsterShura exactly, only losers hurt women, they're pathetic.
holly holm could mess soem guys up. dont tlak to wowgirl about holly holm though because holly fights south paw and wowgirl said south paw is a made up media term
@wootamandawoot41 wow the obsession

I fear stand up fighting or I am not at all confident in it
I do need help in that area greatly.. agree...100%
Would take Kung Fu or Ty style happily
, guys she's not attracted to...
Yes anyone should follow their own passion. I feel women are becoming more muscular with years.
My girlfriend can easily choke me out
Oh lol your silly
Good for her
Excellent training, I agree, also for the mental benefits. Very good Take.
Thanks love
well i never went for MMA, but it was my dream, but my parents didn't allowed , i learnt shaolin Kungfu, , 3E combact system, pekiti tersia kali, muay chaiya.
I like martial arts, though I'm not sure which one I'd choose.
My husband knows quite a bit about different types of the art. I don't care to learn probably would feel different about if it wasn't talked about all the damn time
Women should definitely know how to kick ass. Prevent the awful things weirdos want to do to them and no longer become a victim
And by "weirdos", we mean the same guys that got bullied in K-12 may have to put up with it again when trying to get a date. That's what most women are like nowadays.
@kespethdude ๐๐
@LeoElias?
Lmao who's we?๐
๐.. opps
Us guys
Okay
Well women in some ways are better at MMA because I have seen them be even more brutal than men Gina Carrano used to beat her opponent's asses so bad and I loved it
They don't feel out each other the way men do
Women rarely rarely go full fights
It's more of a Clash of the Titans style
They want to kill each unlike most guys the guys usually just want the win but when you put 2 girls in there they are like savages
Guys fight smarter and like you said to win
I noticed just the past few weeks how different it is sparring with a man compared to a woman.
Just the pace alone
And men are supposed to be the angrier gender lol
@ItalianGuy777
Dang hot headed men
I used to be really into fighting when I was younger now I would rather eat taco bell than fight someone lol
If your trained fighting someone who's not is considered a b$#@h move in MMA
I wish I had your outlook
If I ate Taco Bell I'd be depressed for weeks about it.
Sucks man... eat some for me
I haven't eaten it in over a year but I always want it lol but instead I eat something just as bad
Lol true
How do you go without eating something fattening?
Honestly vanity
I once ate clean for 6 months and have been on crazy diets where I would not eat fat but now I need something good like a cheesesteak or tacos or something lol
You didn't get sick after 6 months?
Carbs become like a toxin if not taken in regularly
Well because of my crazy dieting I went on a diet before where I wouldn't eat for 3 days then I ate a whole chocolate cake then I didn't eat again for days and doing stuff like that gave me fatty liver and I gained more weight but then years later I dropped around 50 lbs now my liver doesn't look fatty but I still put a little weight back since. I'm sorry 50lbs a lot man
Be safe
How did you not make yourself diabetic?
No Idea I am in much better shape now though the only time my sugar ever went up and was a problem I stopped drinking soda just drank water and fixed it
Wow dude
I'd rather do Krav Maga than MMA. MMA damages your body, especially the brain, because of the blows you take.
Does Krav Maga have sparring or full contact competition. in my opinion, without that, any MA is pointless to learn for self defense.
Ah yes, Krav Maga. . . . I remember this artist who thought she could kick my ass because she took Krav Maga a few times. Meanwhile I was going to the gym every day, then I took MMA.
@GreatnessBack ๐
@Wammu WT Heck dude?
I was digging you.. that was uncalled for bro?
You glued me against the wall and then left the room
Not nice
What the f happened
@wowgirl look. Im sorry you feel that way but I REALLY don't need your approval. . . .
@wowgirl thats french for: im not un-gluing you.
@Wammu Well, Krav Maga does not have competitive fights because you target zones like the groin the throat or the eyes, which is potentially deadly or at least very dangerous (that's why Krav Maga is not a martial art). I learned that shit the hard way.
Other than these posed pictures women would still lose to men

@Suefit1 please be quiet while the men are speaking. You're just being rude
@Suefit1 I've been waiting for you.๐ In a good way beautiful Fitness Miss. Nice to meet you
It's funny to see women training so hard and actually thinking that they could stand a chance against a man in an actual fight. Ronda Rousey, on her best day, could be taken out by most 40 year old fat guys.
Well no, thats not true. But against other skilled opponents or insanely violent ones they will be at a serve disadvantage.
@SirRexington Actually, it is true.
@SirRexington no worries I got you
Yes a great workout and a solid grounding in self defence
Im not in MMA but I have taken self defense course and my brother (boxer) taught me how to fight and gives me tips. I hate feeling helpless and I do not want to be an easy target just because I am a girl
I did mma for four years and it's was really fun. I got a bunch of fucked up ligaments and an ear because of it.
I love the ears
Cauliflower ears
Yup.
Even as a guy I think it's a great idea as it has helped me a lot. I just train sparcly with friends and occasionally a professional but just going through the basics in at home training helps tremendously
why not? what stopping you, if your passionate about it, go for it.
