I'm in a terrible shape but I'd like to start working out (can't go to the gym ATM), any suggestions?

I'm in a very bad condition, I haven't done strenght training ever and even cardio shape isn't good. At the moment I'm living in a place where I can't go to the gym (after summer I'll be able to).

I'd like to start now however, is there anything I could do at home? I can buy some equipments if needed. I don't know anything about proper terms etc... I'd like to tighten up my middle section and arms especially.

I don't think I need to lose weight (at least not a lot), I'm just really unfit...
