It is estimated that 200 million people in the world have some form of thyroid disease.
So does the following article make you wonder if a lot of GAGers also have a thyroid disorder? Kindly share your experiences too if you have ever suffered from a thyroid disorder. Thanks.

I have almost all the symptoms you list above. I was convinced I was hypothyroid (and it does run in the family). Yet my thyroid panels are fine (and yes I got the full panel - not just TSH). I've also taken with thyroid hormones both synthetic and glandular which didn't improve anything.

I don't want to be a dick but it really bothers me when people read an article they found on the internet and suddenly they think they're an endocrinologist (and yes I've been guilty of this myself) - even more when they start diagnosing people. They don't understand that correlation is not causation nor that the association between those symptoms is not bidirectional and they jump to ridiculous conclusions. Just because those symptoms are associated with hypothyroidism doesn't mean that people who display those symptoms are hypothyroid. If you do even more googling you'll find even plenty of articles on plenty of conditions that have the same symptoms (adrenal fatigue, candida, hypoglycemia, hyponatremia, etc...). By the end of it you realize you know very little and are no smarter than you were when you started.

You haven't stumbled on a breakthrough, you just read something on the internet and made a dubious connection. Yes there are a lot of weirdos on GaG but you don't have to pathologize them. Not everybody who is a douchebag is physically ill.

Thyroid disorders are common, but the causes are extremely diverse. Most are easily treated with medication. Others, more rare (usually genetic, present in infancy or very early childhood and almost always a symptom of a larger systemic illness) can be rapidly fatal and some that have no known cause and these cases are considered 'undiagnosed.' Despite this, most thyroid disorders can be attributed to epigenetic or dietary factors and are easily treatable.

My wife had thyroid cancer, thyroid removed a couple years ago. Yes, she suffered from minor depression and anxiety, excessive fear...

Not all thyroid cancers are malignant. I know of people with thyroid cancers who are still surviving after 20 years.

Thanks, she has had good doctors. She has had regular testing and scans done since and so far so good! She is a trooper!
