Suicide by Redbull? I guess my friend is trying to do it. Is it possible, at least?

Question

So I have this one friend who thinks about death a lot and he has some scars on his legs.
Since he is suicidal and he tries to hide it from other people he doesn't wan't to take pills but instead he wants to drink a lot of Redbull to make it look accidental.
I went to his house one day after school and he had a lot of Redbull cans on his fridge.
So is it possible to commit suicide by drinking Redbull?
How can I help him?

Okay people, this is serious.
First, excessive use of caffeine can be fatal. Second, If he is taking any type of medication for the depression, the excessive caffeine will interact with the medication. Whenever a person combines prescription medication with alcohol or caffeine, it's a gamble at best.
Now, lets deal with your friend. Cutting on the legs is a sure sign that your friend is in danger. When a cut to your skin feels better than the emotional pain that you are suffering, you are in a place that you won't get out of without help from others. Talk to your parents. Talk to his parents if you can. You get anyone you can get to help him. He is going to be angry at you, and that's fine, tell him to be as angry as he wants, but that you will not let him take his own life.
I do not know what is causing the pain that your friend is feeling. I do know that there are some good medications out there that can help (if he can find a gifted psychiatrist), and a few therapy modalities that can help him (such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). But nothing will help him more than having a good friend like you to help him get through this.

This is first and foremost an outcry for attention and help and you should answer it accordingly. If you didn't yet, make clear that you are aware of his plans and that you don't want this to happen. He won't, of course, give them up due to that small little talk.
You have to help him to get help urgently. Is he also underage? Since self-harm is often connected to problems at home, I'd say a teacher you trust is the person you should talk about what you know.
Suicicdal thoughts are normal during puberty, but in this case it seems that the parents are not only not helpful in overcoming but much more even a problem.

I just did a research on Redbull and it states here: Just one can of Redbull can raise the risk of heart attack and stroke. I am learning something new every day here...
If your friend has these 'Suicidal tendencies,' and has some 'Scars' to prove it, you need to take the Bull by his horns and try and talk some sense in him to seek some professional help. People who have tried to commit suicide, who already have attempted it, and Continuously Contemplate and Still Look for ways, usually are the ones who hit the Bull's eye and succeed one day. He is obviously trying to find a way to make this painless as he can...
Your friend is serious. He's not just talking Nor----Drinking and filling your head full of Bull.

It might be possible, but I don't think he'll reach that point I went through it once and now even a small sip from a redbull and my heart goes crazy. Try to stop him go have fun, play him some sad music about people who overcame this kind of problems that helps a lot. He won't get it straight from you because you don't actually know how it feels like, he needs to feel understood. Hope I helped anything else send me a message.

Well, I have to give it to him. It's slightly genius. Just get him some help. Tell his parents or something. Get him on suicide watch. He might hate you at first honestly, but he will be thanking you for saving his life later. Trust me. I'm telling you from experience I wish somebody would've done that for me when I got that bad.

Anything can be poisonous in the right quantities, even water. If you drink too much water, your brain cells will swell and you will die, I say that is pretty poisonous. So yes, if he drinks enough of it, he probably will have a very unpleasant death.

Yep, caffine is EXTREMELY dangerous in large amounts. Just tell him that even if he feels like no one cares that people do. Someone at my school committed suicide, I didn't know him but the whole school was torn to pieces for days, including myself, I balled my eyes out for all the people who I watched crumble to the ground when I found out. Litterally crumbled.

It's possible but it's not very easy unless he is susceptible to heart problems. I know a guy who drinks 12 redbull a day and I doubt your friend is drinking that much. The human body is amazingly durable and adaptive.

You help him by identifying the cause of these feelings and address them appropriately. As a friend, you would need to be on good enough terms to have him confide in you.

yes it's possible. Especially if he stayed up late overnight, overdose on Redbull, then went for a intense run in the morning. The caffeine inside will cause a lot of stress to his heart and he could have a heart attack.

I'm not too sure how to handle with suicides, but you need to be there to dissuade him and seek help from his parents or contact the helpline.

I highly doubt your friend will be able to kill himself by drinking too much Redbull. This is just a cry for attention or help, or both. If he really wanted to end it he would find a better method. Tell his parents.

I"ve heard of people drinking too much and having heart attacks and passing away but those people have been older and slightly unhealthier.

You can help him by being a good mate and talking to his parents if they're the type that care , then you can find out the cause of the problem and get help,.

Pretty sure you can't kill yourself on a red bull overdose.
In a previous job, I had to drive a lot, I worked one day for 13 hours, I think I ended up consuming around 25 cans of red bull and I'm still alive.

I had a patient that was a young healthy cop. He drank an assload of red bull one day. He went into heart failure. Basics! ky pit his pulse & blood pressure so high his heart muscle got wrecked. He is on the heart transplant list. He can't even walk to the bathroom without getting short of breath.

His life sucks, yet he's alive. If he's lucky he might get a new heart, but still be on anti-rejection drugs forever. If he's unlucky, death will be slow and torturous.
