My grandma had a hysterectomy now my mom is having one at 39?

Hi, it seems like the chances of me having to have this procedure is relatively high. Not only are to consecutive generations having this, but blavk women suffer from fibroids the most as an ethic class. Literally, tripple whammied here. :/ My aunt also has uterine problems. I'm really scared about my fertility and know that genetically speaking my chances of problematic uterus is likely. I've already had two pregnancies not take root as well- implantation occurs, a late period and then heavier longer period.

Should I go see a doctor about this? I'm only 19, and I'm lucky not to have kids, but knowing my family back ground... it freaks me out.

I'm amazed that a GP doesn't know about Myomectomy. It shrinks the fibroids they dry up & die. I know a girl that has it done when the procedure first came out & she claims it to be "wonderful" It lasted for her up until menopause.
Another had the same problem & went for the hysterectomy. She had 2 kids & was done with her monthly bill.
Your Mom at 39 may be thinking the same thing? That option wasn't available for your grandmother.

at 19? you probably don't need to go to a doctor yet specifically for it. but when you go to a doctor for a check-up, physical or whatever and fill out the paperwork just make sure you document that your family has a history of fibroids, hysterectomies and what not

... if you are having or planning on having a baby you'll want to go to the doctor though because fibroids can really effect pregnancy
