Fitting in.

My boyfriend wants me to hang out with him and his guy friends, but I really don't think they like me.

He has two close/best guy friends. (I'll identify them by their initials) they are DG are JK. Both of the guys (DG and JK) have dated NA, a few times, so she hangs out with them. Basically it's DG, JK, NA, and my boyfriend. So for me to just jump in with "the guys" would be awkward. it's not awkward for NA because she's dated both of the other guys...

But I feel like DG thinks I'm taking my boyfriend away from them because I've spent time with him this summer and they really haven't.

I want his guy friends to like me, but I don't know what to do about it. I don't want to be the that bitchy girlfriend either.

What do I do about this?

no one likes it when their close friend gets taken away by his/her significant other. it'd reflect badly on you and your bf. imagine if you keep spending time with your boyfriend and then he doesn't get to spend 'quality time' with his best buds, then he gets into some deep sh*t and needs his friends' help, they wouldn't be as willing to help as before becuase they'd feel as if he only looks for them when he needs their help, and you'd just look like a friend stealer. so you really have no choice but to 'jump in'.

what you could do is maybe have a bbq or whatever at your place, and ask your boyfriend to invite them over so you all can hang out and chill. also, you could divide your time between bbq-ing & preparing the food and talking to them - at least you won't have to talk to them ALL the time if that makes it awkward for you. you need to have some initiative if you want them to like you. be spontaneous. get on their level. when you're with them, it's okay to be 'one of the guys'. you don't want them thinking you're a prissy little princess.

From what I've seen based on your other answers and this question, it seems like you're trying to be way too serious about the relationship for where you both are in your life. You're moving too quickly and too early and you'll regret it.

The biggest thing is don't be clingy. Try to limit yourself to 3 days a week with him so that he is free to spend the other 4 days with friends and family. And don't spend every waking moment on the phone with him either on the other 4 days. You don't need to integrate yourself completely into his life and if you do you may cause more harm than good.

Remember one very very important thing: You're just dating, not married, and neither of you are at a point in your life where you can really handle the responsibilities that come with as serious a relationship as you're trying to have with him.

I don't think we're moving too quickly. I have been friends with the boy for 6 years. Our lives are already integrated...we both work in technical theater at our school...

I'm taking what you're saying into consideration, I really am...I just don't agree with your stance, because you don't have the whole story...you don't know our lives, you just know what I say on here...

Also, if he wants me to hang out with him...I'm not going to say "no...because I don't want to be too clingy, we've already hung out two days this week" I've talked to him about this, and he doesn't think that us hanging out makes us clingy.

We're just...living in the moment.

We've been close for a very long time, he's one of my best friends, so why should I limit my time with him just because we're dating?
