Mom making me get an ultrasound for no reason?

I'm 15 years old and I went to the doctor for my physical last week. My doctor started poking at my stomach area and said my stomach is too fat for my weight. Then her hand was cold so I was uncomfortable and she saw that. Then she went out and told my mom in a whispering voice that I should get an ultrasound. I am a virgin so I don't know what they are thinking is wrong with me. I am a bit underweight and my stomach sticks out like one inch, and always has. I already tried to tall my mom the ultrasound is unnecessary but she won't listen. Why would they want me to get an ultrasound so bad? Any ideas?

It's not your mom making you have an ultrasound. She's exercising good sense under the advisement of your doctor, who has observed that your abdominal girth is larger than what it should be at your height/weight/build. Possible causes for that would include a mass of some sort or an organ being enlarged. An ultrasound is painless and noninvasive (which means not dangerous and not even embarrassing). You will lay on a table, expose your belly only, and the technician will use a little wand to scan your belly. They use only a little bit of pressure, like how your doctor pressed on your stomach to feel around. It's a completely harmless and painless way to take a look around in there. It will be cool because you'll probably get to see some of the pictures and not many people know what they look like inside themselves!

Ok that makes it seem way better because I was thinking they would touch all over my body and make a big deal out of it.

Maybe its not for pregnancy worries but other concerns like a medical issue from feeling something enlarged.

It is not impossible that you are pregnant, and the insemination happened without your knowledge. Someone could have drugged you and made you forget the experience, or made you sleep through it. If the doctor says it's necessary, give it a shot - it's not like an ultrasound is risky or painful.

There could be lots of other things besides a pregnancy going on too, like a parasite, a tumor, etc. The ultrasound might find something that isn't a baby.

yeah but I have recently decided to become a vegetarian about a few months ago... but I guess that doesn't really help with my weight problem

If you're eating very little than it's possible that your stomach is bloated. Also getting your period may have something to do with it.

I eat normally like breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I had my period two weeks before the appointment so I don't think that could be the problem.

Ok so I've gotten an ultrasound too when everything was fine with me and I was still a virgin. Ultrasounds don't only check to see if you're pregnant. Don't worry.

Ok I have to go there in an hour to get the ultrasound, am I supposed to pee in a cup or something? lol

Lol no, but, depending on what they are trying to see they'll make you drink a lot so your bladder is full. It ain't fun.
