How often do you get checked for STIs? How long after and before your partners?

Do you use protection?

Every 3 months no matter what

Right away after my last partner

A month after my last partner

Only before each new partner

Once a year or never

I never have, after 4 sexual partners. I used protection most of the time with them. I don't use condoms if we've been together for a long time. I've not had a reason to go get checked and the guys said they'd never had one before. If one of them told me they think they have/had one, then I'd get checked.

Men are asymptomatic. And you can catch stuff like HPV or herpes with or without condoms. And most of the time if you have HIV symptoms won't surface until years later.

If a new partner wanted me to get checked I would though. It's wise to be safe.

It's better safe than sorry. My friend had chlamydia for a whole year because she refused (was afraid) to get tested. She's lucky she didn't contract PID.
