Girls, Shaving does not work well with my legs, I have tried it all and my legs are always irritated. I recently... Nair?

I have tried all the tricks for shaving there is. My legs are always bumpy and irritated for at least a day afterward. I recently tried Nair, it worked okay, but it didn't remove all of the hair. Do any of the others work better? Are their any other suggestions? I don't want to wax, but if that's what it comes down to I will.

Oh my! I would recommend shaving less. Only wax if you are comfortable, as I heard it results in pain, and sometimes bleeding! Try using a shaver for sensitive skin, such as the Bic Sensitive Skin Disposables, they may be more hygenic, as after one usage you dispose the shaver, thus no bacteria! You could also apply a body loation before you shower, and after, just to keep extra moisture! I wouldn't worry about it too much, and only shave when necessary. Take your time! Take as long as you need too, and only shave when legs are wet, and always shave with a good working Shaving Cream! If it boils down to it, waxing may be an option for you, but only if your comfortable, as I stated earlier. Read the fineprint of every shaver before your final purchase. Read about how many blades, etc. All I can say is take your time and do when ready! :)

Try disposable razors. A lot of the time, irritation when shaving is caused by bacteria trapped around the blades. Use a hypoallergenic shaving foam. Ditch the cream or gel. Don't shave in really hot water, it needs to be just warm, and ideally let your legs soak up the water for 10-15 minutes before shaving. When you finish, dry your legs immediately, then moisturise well.

Honestly I wouldn't recommend Nair or Veet to anyone. The chemicals in them are way too harsh, and I've seen so many burns from them (had them, too!)

You could also try epilation, though it hurts. Or laser, if your hair is dark enough.

Will be the weirdo in the group and say that laser worked really well for removing hair that I did not want to shave all of the time because of like razor bumps and irritation. It was a little bit painful (not as nasty as waxing though), but totally worth it for me. One of my friends uses an epilator on her legs but that just seems really painful to me.

Try shaving your legs less, you probably have sensitive skin. You should start only shaving your legs when necessary. For example: skirts, dresses, and shorts. The less you shave the better. I had the same problem as well, so I stopped shaving frequently. I also don't recommend Nair. I never tried waxing, but maybe you should give it a try. All I can say is shave less and apply lotion.

Try getting a new razor and a thick, cream like shaving cream. And go slow when you shave, afterwards, apply an unscented lotion like luberiderm!

Nair always hurts my legs. But maybe I just have more sensitive skin than many.
