I guess it really depends on the workout. It also depends on how you stretch, if you exercise incorrectly you could hurt something major. And then by consistently working out without breaks can be bad as well. It can be better to allow one day for one type of workout say weights, and then another day for running etc.
For muscle one big burst would be the best bet.
Muscle (miofribular hypertrophy)
You get that response when there's a lot of time under tension
So 1 burst for the day would be enough and the best
Muscle needs at least 2 days to rest to get a full recovery so you get bigger and stronger faster
This is what I do
Monday: Hand functioning sh** and triceps
Tuesday: traps, upper back and lower back
Wednesday: chest, upper chest, Forearm flexors
Thursday: Cardio
Friday: biceps, Delts, forearms extenders
Saturday: rest
Sunday: rest
You're not an Idiot. I work 1 major muscle group once per week for 12 weeks & then switch it up. I also do cardio 3 days a week. stepmill for 100 floors on lifting days & run a 5K on Saturdays. Sunday even I rest.
