Is it better to spread exercise out?

Is it better to go for a run, do some pushups, plank and light weights all of the same day then have a rest day or is it better to go for a run and pushups one day then the next do plank and weights and repeat?

This is for building muscle
Big burst then rest day (all on day one, nothing on day 2, repeat)
Spread out (half on each day, repeat)
Neither, you're an idiot (please explain)
