One of my favorite regulars from work is a 76 year old woman. She comes in everyday. Today she started a conversation with me, like every morning. But today she started crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said her husband committed suicide in front of her six weeks ago. He shot himself. I tried to keep myself calm but in the heat of the moment, I started crying as well. She said she lives a lonely life now and that her only time out in public is when she comes to see me, three days a week.
There have been other situations at well. My boyfriends grandmother passed from Dementia earlier this year and we have a woman who comes in with Dementia about once every two weeks or so and every time I see her I start thinking of my boyfriends grandmother and it sends me for a loop.
Is there anyway to kind of subside my emotions or tone them down a bit?
