Tips on improved heart rate?

Anyone have any tips on how to improve my heart rate in less than a month? I have until January 4th to get my heart rate to improve by at least 4 points. I've been trying to run 3 or 4 days a week for half an hour each time, but it gets dark almost immediately after I get home from school and my uncle won't let us out at night. I also have asthma and have been sick recently, so any time I try to do the running I wheeze badly and have to go home after maybe 10 minutes of running. Are there any tips and tricks to improving heart rate quicker, or do I just have to keep working at running as much as possible?
