For minor constipation and also the opposite diarrhea there is a convenient way to get quick relief and that is by using water from a Hand Bidet Sprayer. Primarily used for superior hygiene it's better than a Bidet in that you can use it to shoot some water up inside like a mini enema to help get cleaned out, inside and out. It's fast, efficient, more comfortable and practical than an enema and by reducing straining it also helps with hemorrhoids. Plus it can be easily installed by your toilet with no new plumbing required. See www.bathroomsprayer.com
Prune juice, anything fiber related. The key with foods that contain fiber is they will make you go, as long as you drink adequate water throughout the day. The fiber will soak up the water and you will be able to go in about a day
Try drinking hot water with molasses on an empty stomach. Or just add some to your oatmeal. Try squatting on the toilet as opposed to sitting. It'll make you strain less. Plain yogurt with probiotics sometimes does the trick for me too. Hope you find something that works. I know how frustrating constipation can be.
Cherries, coffee, prune juice, water, cranberry juice, grape's and metamucil. Maybe you should change your diet as well. My aunt ate mostly food's containing startch and the same thing would happen to her. After changing her's she got better. Good luck.
Castor oil should really help. And there are laxative teas too that are really gentle if U want something like that.
A large glass of prune juice every morning

A milk and molasses enema. Warm the mix on a stove, stir, then let cool. Seriously. I know it sounds like a joke, but it really works. My daughter's doctor had me use that on her when she had that problem when she was a child. Then once you are cleaned out, drink a lot more water, eat fewer meats, more fiber, and you can buy Miralax over the counter which works pretty good. I had to take it for a colonoscopy prep this past weekend (although at much higher doses than what's listed on the bottle) and let's just say it was extremely effective.
There's a myTake on that that you should check out.

Essentially she said that she was prescribed macrogol and it helped.
Healthy and fitness is what I love to study. Most doctors today are useless and know nothing of health. Constipation is often caused by not drinking enough water, so drink at least 3 litres of water a day. However, the best food to eat for constipation is Amaranth Grain. It takes about 15 minutes to boil and it is loaded with healthy fibre. Most fibres in cereals are dead and do not work well. But get yourself some Amaranth Grain and eat 1 or 2 big bowls a day. If this doesn't work then nothing else will. You can get organic Amaranth Grain off the internet and it's cheap, and really healthy.
I had the same thing recently as I've stopped smoking, sucks big time. We have this thing called bisacodyl you can buy OTC in the UK, it worked for me but it says dont use it for more than a few days - it's better than senna/senakot too. High fibre diet, lots of water and exercise. If these things don't work then perhaps your doctor should investigate the underlying cause.
The seed of the senna. In the UK it comes as something called Sennacot. It a natural plant extract. Works every time.
Try adding fiber and mineral oil and laxatives drink lots of water and check your stress level
An enema will relieve it so fast you'll be happy you did it.
You're definitely an overweight lass in much need of diet and exercise. Drink lots of water and eat veggies (fiber) for once, instead of your usual Mcnuggets and cherry coke.
Papaya works really well for constipation. But don't drink papaya juice instead eat papaya about 3 times a week.
Exercise, strong coffee, fiber diet, orange juice. Avoid a sedentary life.
White Castle burgers or KFC. Gets me every time. Or just really spicy food.
I find an enema is simple and effective when needed. Important to have a healthy diet and plenty exercise.
Prune juice, change of diet.
Lots of coffee works for me.
Get more fibre in your diet.
fibre.
Except if you're chronically constipated, because then fiber just makes it worse (because the poop is kinda stuck inside you and the fiber takes even more water out of it)
@Mesonfielde
Oh okay, well never mind then.
But if it's acute constipation then increasing fiber intake DOES work! :D
@Mesonfielde
