+1 yA lot will depend on his O-line, they failed him in the Super Bowl. My Pats went out the same way two weeks before. You can have anyone at QB, Cam, Brady, Rodgers, you name it, and they can't get anything done without time. I though Carolina was going to roll but Denver's pass rush is just too nasty. That was the story of the game, I can't really saddle Cam with the blame for that game. Everyone missed plays, but the OL was just badly overmatched.
Panthers could be back in the next year or two though. They still play in a bum-ass division, Brees is another year older, Matt Ryan isn't quite what we thought he'd be, Tampa is still building, so they can win their division again I think. I don't mean to slight them by saying they play a weak division, by the way, I hear that all the time as a Pats fan, like it should be held against us that the AFC East can't get its shit together, haha. Funny how no one said that about Peyton and the Colts when they played in the AFC South every year against garbage teams, but that's what happens when you're Peyton Manning and the media shines your ass and makes excuses for you every time you fail, while killing a guy like Brady for anything they can. Never seen anything like it, and I say that with my unbiased glasses on, not the Pats homer glasses, hahaha.
I like Cam a lot though, and Luke Kuechly is a football player's football player, so I hope the Cats get back there and win ones that some point... once Brady gets one for the thumb first, of course, haha.010 Reply- +1 y
* win one at some point

Had Gostkowski not missed that extra point, I believe the Pats would have eventually won in OT. Brady and Gronk got hot in the end. I wonder how a Pats and Panthers super bowl would have turned out. High scoring both sides that's for sure.
- +1 y
@MyUsernameRules Maybe. Honestly, I can't even be mad at Gostkowski, there were three full quarters to score points and they couldn't get it done. I was thinking Carolina was going to smash whoever they played, so I didn't even want to play them, haha, just because Brady's legacy would somehow take more of a hit for losing a Super Bowl than get credit for making another one. I had the thought after Denver won if the Pats could have too, but I don't think it's really clear. The Pats don't have the pass rush needed to take Cam out of his game, plus they struggle against teams with a balanced rushing/passing attack, plus throw in Cam's mobility, and I honestly see the Pats losing that game. Plus they have a D that can get pressure with just a four man rush and have good coverage LBs to take away the middle of the field, and I've seen the Pats lose to teams like that time and again. That said, I thought Seattle was going to blow them out last year and they pulled it off.
Asker+1 yI was hoping the Patriots would beat the Broncos so the Panthers wouldn't have to go up against Denvers defense.
- +1 y
Yeah, if I was a Carolina fan that's what I would have hoped for. I knew it would be a defensive battle, but it turned out to be even more so than I thought. I thought Denver wouldn't be able to keep up on offense, but it turned out to be the opposite. Pretty sloppy game in general. Panthers are well-built thigh, they should contend again. 15-1 without Kelvin Benjamin, shit could get ugly when they get him back. I'm pretty complacent with the Pats at this point. Obviously i'd love to win one more before Bill and Brady check out, but I'm not complaining about 4 Lombardis, I'm old enough to remember the dark ages when we were going 2-14, so I count my blessings every day because I know it'll likely never be this good again, haha. My dad is 84, and I hope he lives forever, but I honestly envy him that he won't have to live long, if at all, after this Golden Age, and I'll have to go back to being an average frustrated NFL fan for 40 years, haha.

Oh wait, that was the asker, sorry for the pointless tag
- +1 y
It's all good. But hey, with Gronk and Edelman I doubt they will be bad after Brady and Bill check out. Plus that NE defense is very underrated in my opinion. I highly you'll doubt you'll suffer like me, a long time Lions fan who's been frustrated by the organization for ruining the career of both Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson. Pats organization is too good to struggle like that.
- +1 y
@MyUsernameRules Oh man, Lions fan... brutal. James Ihedigbo is one of my boys from college (I was like 26 and still bumming around, haha), I played semipro with his brother, who's a colossal douchebag but a hell of a football player. But yeah, some greats have gone to Detroit to die. I'm surprised Calvin Johnson did just ask out with a trade and go to a contender. I hope you're right about the Pats, but it all goes through Belichick and Brady. Bill is in his 60s, so he won't be around forever, and Brady says he wants to go another 6 or 7 years, but age catches up to everyone, just look at Peyton. Love Tommy to death but he could fall off a cliff at any time now. Edelman and Gronk are great, but I don't think either of them have the longevity to hold the Pats down too far into the future. I don't know if Edelman gets re-upped after this year. Great player, but he takes a beating and is getting close to 30, and Bill is notorious for preferring to cut guys a year too early instead of...
- +1 y
@MyUsernameRules... a year too late. And if Gronk doesn't get another ACL blown out it'll be a miracle. Impossible for DBs to take him on anywhere but low. I saw Ha Ha Clinton-Dix go high on him the other year and he bounced right off, haha. I hope both of them hang on but I'm not that optimistic. Bill's talent evaluation is what makes him special, he has an eye for specific skill sets. When he goes, we're down a coach AND a GM. Pats have a 2-3 year window if they're lucky. Hopefully you're right and I'm wrong though!

+1 yNo way. Cam is not the best dual threat. I think Russell Wilson is currently the best dual threat. There are other quarterbacks on the horizon I think will be better. David Carr, if he stays healthy. Marcus Mariotta should be awesome. Cam still doesn't have enough weapons to throw the ball to. And he still doesn't make the best decisions when running the football.

+1 yBest quarterback? How? There are other hungry teams too in the NFC like the Packers, Seahawks, Cardinals, etc so it's really tough to call.

Asker+1 yPanthers dominated all of those teams.

Seahawks dominated NFC last year but where were they this year? Every year is different. Green Bay had major injury problems.
Asker+1 yIn the playoffs.

He's not better than Rodgers. He's not better than Brady. He's not better than Roethlisberger. He's not better than Wilson. He's not better than Luck. I wouldn't put him on my top 5 but top 10 definitely.
Asker+1 yWhat makes luck better than newton?
i think it comes down to the coaching in carolina, they had fun this year. if they get serious next year they will be serious contenders

Asker+1 yNot his fault the line didn't block for him.
- +1 y
It is his fault he made bad passes and stupid decisions, but yes the line didn't do too well.
Asker+1 yThe entire offense played terrible. The panthers defense played good enough to win that game but the offense lost it. Dropped passes, terrible blocking, fumbles, etc.
+1 yHe's not the best quarterback in the nfl and I'll be surprised if they are back. I didn't think they were that good of a team to begin with but they actually did make it to the super bowl.

Asker+1 yHow does a team go 15-1 in the NFL and not be good. Cam Newton is NFL MVP and the panthers were top five in offense and defense. They have just as good a chance of making to the super bowl as any team in the NFC.
Asker+1 y@sento15 what?
Asker+1 y@sento15 Cam Newton is a big reason the panthers are so good.
- +1 y
I never thought the panthers played any very good teams during the season.
Asker+1 yLast time I checked every team they played was an NFL team. I don't care what your schedule looks like it's hard to go 15-1 in the NFL. The cardinals are a great team and look what the panthers done to them. I know they lost in the super bowl but they were in it until the end. After all the mistakes they made they were still only down 16-10 with 4 minutes left and had a chance to win.
- +1 y
I felt like they had the easiest schedule in the nfl. They did well but they aren't as amazing as everyone thinks.
Asker+1 yThey're pretty good. They're right up there with the best teams in the NFC.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yUh what? Peyton just broke all time most passing yards in nfl. That would make him better. Cam would have to break records first. Also, panthers defense saved him a bunch this year.

Asker+1 yHe Has broken records.
Opinion Owner+1 yName them?
Opinion Owner+1 yPlus he has 0 super bowl rings. If he can't carry his team to win all way then he will never be considered goat. Eli and Peyton both have 2. Aaron Rodgers has consistenly highest qb rating. You are just a cam fanboy.
Asker+1 yHe broke Peyton mannings rookie passing record
Asker+1 yI'm Greg Olsen
Asker+1 yI know
Opinion Owner+1 yI don't think he had best rookie passing record out of any qb though.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yNo and no
You can make that case for this past season as he did win MVP. I'd put him 3rd best QB in his own division. haha020 Reply
Asker+1 yI'd definitely take him over any QB in his division.
Opinion Owner+1 yProbably because you're a Carolina fan
Asker+1 yHe was 5-1 in the division this season. Cam has gotten a lot better with his accuracy plus he can run the ball like a running back.
Asker+1 yCarolina vs New England in Super Bowl 51
- +1 y
What are you talking about? Only Drew Brees is better than him in the division.
Opinion Owner+1 y@MyUsernameRules pfft and Matt Ryan
Opinion Owner+1 yIt's doubtful that Carolina make it. I don't doubt the Patriots considering most other AFC teams are completely incapable of not choking.
- +1 y
Matt Ryan hasn't been in the playoffs for years and wasting a great talent like Julio Jones. Lost so many games against bad teams this year while Cam has won this division for 3 years straight. Matty Ice was great in his first 4 or 5 seasons or whatever but has been awful the past 3. I don't know who in their right mind would choose Matt Ryan over Cam Newton. He's the most inconsistent QB not named Jay Cutler and isn't even top 10 yet you think he's better than the QB who just won MVP.
Opinion Owner+1 y@MyUsernameRules Have you seen his stats? There's shit just falling out of your mouth, isn't there?
If we are going by how well the teams have done the past couple of years, how would you have Drew Brees above him?
ATL has a horrendous O-line, so much so the O-coordinator ask him not to do full dropbacks. Let's not forget about the terrible defense they have.- +1 y
Lol if we're gonna go by just stats, we can easily label even Nick Foles to be a great quarterback cause he threw just 2 interceptions couple of years back. Ryan has maybe the best receiver in the league along with Roddy White and a great receiving running back. ATL has a horrendous o line yet Freeman still managed to get 1000 yards rushing so it's not as bad as you say. Their defense isn't great but it's not that bad. He had so many easy games after a 5-0 start and blew all of them. And do you know how much worse New Orleans' defense is as compared to Atlanta's defense? Much worse. Brees' passing has still been easily better than Ryan though and he has a super bowl ring. Cam doesn't have any big name receivers. When Ryan was making the playoffs, he kept choking it up in the playoffs. Even in the 1 playoff win he had, he almost blew a 20 point lead. You've got to be a serious hater to put Ryan over Cam in terms of QB rating. Ryan isn't even top 10 in the league.
Opinion Owner+1 yIf we're not going by stats, what should we go by? Super Bowl rings? They have the same amount, don't they?
Matt Ryan regularly finishes in the top 5 in passing yards every season even with that anemic line. This was the first year Newton threw more touchdowns and less interceptions than Ryan. By the way, this is only Cam's 2nd winning season during his 5 seasons there.
Freeman did do well this year, but that was a surprise to everyone. They haven't had a solid running game since 2011.
Like I said, they asked him to not do full dropbacks the past couple of years.
Did you even watch those ATL playoff games? Some can be pinned on him, sure, but that defense broke down. Those TEs on both the Seahawks and 49ers were so wide open, I could have easily thrown it to them. They could barely get there hands on Frank Gore in the 2nd half.
They have no pass rush. They have decent CBs though.
Anyway, I can't take you seriously. You compared him to Jay Cutler.- +1 y
Lol Matt Ryan is like 4 or 5 years older with 4 or 5 more years of experience in the league yet he has only 1 playoff win. Cam literally has no receivers after Kelvin Benjamin got injured and Steve Smith left. Only reliable target was his TE Olsen but he did make Ted Ginn look good. And passing yards lmao. Matt Schaub used to rack up a lot of passing yards but I knew even before his pick 6 year that he was inconsistent. And what about his passer rating now and his ability to win close games? He was great at winning close games in the beginning of his career but this year he lost all games to Saints and Bucs. Bucs aren't good and Saints defense is ass. He even lost to San Fran and Colts w/o Luck. Sure, this might be Cam's first year where he had more TDs and less ints than Matt but let's just completely forget what he brings to the table with his running game now. Right? His rushing yards and rushing TDs and also his capability of winning close games with lesser talented receivers.
- +1 y
Till 2013, Ryan was the better QB but he's been the second most inconsistent QB in the league after Cutler. Falcons defense were ass when they were in playoffs last time but a QB as good as you claim Matt Ryan to be isn't supposed to blow that big of a lead. And it's not like their defense allowed 35 or 40+ points against Seattle and San Fran. If you're that good of a QB with targets such as Julio, White, and Tony Gonzalez, you literally can't blame your defense or o line for losing the game. He choked and couldn't handle the pressure. He was known for choking in the playoffs even when he was considered an elite QB.
Lol who should take you seriously? You're saying Ryan, a QB who was 0-2 against TB, 0-2 against NO, lost to San Fran, lost to Colts without Luck is better than the league MVP. Lol either you're a troll or just a hater but I think it's the latter. You talk about how bad his defense is but he can't even beat San Fran with Blaine Gabbert starting and SF only scoring 17. - +1 y
By the way, do you also consider Ryan Tannehill to be a top 10 QB? By your logic of using passing yards statistics, he's been top 10 in passing yards past couple of years so he must be a top 10 QB because of that.
Opinion Owner+1 yAgain, if we're not basing on passing yards, touchdowns, interceptions, etc, what the fuck are we basing it on? How can you not base consistency off of that?
I didn't say that Ryan played better than Cam Newton this year. I gave him that in the initial answer. If we base it off of whatever flimsy evidence you're standing on, he's miles better than Brees too. Both the Falcons and Panthers have performed better than the Saints.
Since we're not looking at stats, Brees is one of the worst QBs, I guess.
I'm think you're the troll. You could ask anyone that actually watches football or an analyst and none will say that Cutler and Ryan are on the same level. You're being silly just be silly.
Pop your tongue out of Cam's bottom. It's unseemly.- +1 y
You're the one dick riding Matty Ice and had to resort to insults to help your argument. I was just arguing without insulting or using language but hey, I understand since you're vouching for a mediocre QB like Ryan. Cutler is the most inconsistent QB but he does have talent. Ryan is a good QB but not a great one because he's very inconsistent. Honestly though, if we rated QBs based on passing yards only then Tannehill would be a top 10 QB based on your logic lmao. Flimsy evidence? Okay then. Dude couldn't even beat Blaine Gabbert in a must win game but you blame the defense. And speaking of defense, Saints were dead last in defense unlike Falcons who's defense was ranked in the middle so that's a dumb analysis there. Brees is a legend and even when he's past his prime, he's better than Ryan. Worst defense with no running game with receivers who aren't even in the same league as Julio. Your dick riding of a decent QB is disturbing. Cam can actually win important games.
Opinion Owner+1 yYeah, you're right. I only pointed on passing yards. I didn't throw anything else behind it. Even so, passing yards would seem to be fairly important.
A fool or a troll you are. That's about it. I guess you can repeat your nonsense about a game or two and I can use factual stats over the past several seasons. Nothing will be accomplished. You bore me.- +1 y
Lol stick to factual stats. I wonder how those great "factual stats" would be if his best WR was Ted Ginn rather than Julio. And a game or two? Hahaha. He had 6 easy games and had to win at least 2 of those but didn't. I love how you think he's better than Cam just because of his passing yards. By this logic, Tannehill had a better season than Rodgers because of better passing yards. And I don't blame you for being bored since I don't agree with your dick riding. It's one of the most preposterous things I've read in a while. Ryan better than Newton lmao. Like another user said also, Ryan isn't what we thought he'd be.
Opinion Owner+1 yYou repeat yourself more than Jake LaMotta. It wasn't poignant the first time.
- +1 y
Because that's all that's needed to prove Ryan isn't better than Newton. But apparently, you're too slow to comprehend with your only argument being passing yards and defense. It's evident someone has been sipping on some haterade to say a mediocre QB is better than a league MVP. It's mind blowing how anyone can believe that. Oh well though. Witness another year of mediocrity.
+1 yWe'll see. The NFC looks pretty weak right now. If Green Bay, Seattle, or New Orleans return to form it will be difficult.
11 Reply- +1 y
Saints need a defense and need to get rid of Brandon Browner if they haven't already.
+1 yI think Cam is today sure.. but Manning took the gold so I think is him
