Buy some resistance bands. They don't cost much and they are highly portable. I take them everywhere with me. And I use them at the gym to work my core anyway because you perform resistance (the same principle of using barbells and dumbbells) core stabilization excerises with them that you can't do without them, which far more effective than traditional ab training. I highly recommend that you do a YouTube search for the Band Man Dave Schmitz. I took a lot of the excerises that I use to work my core from him.
by the way, the best excerise to work your core is pull-ups. No, that isn't a typo. When you do a pull-up, you have to use your abs to stabilize your core and keep your back and body straight. Trust me. It's by far the single best core excerise that there is.

Planks are good. You can make them harder by doing them on your hands and walking out further.
If you have anything solid to hold onto dragon flags are good too.
