can anyone tell me What is the best exercise to stay healthy & fit?
Reminds me of a story a buddy of mine told me when he was taking Physical Education in college. The coach asked the class the same question, what's the best form of exercise?
One student said "Weight lifting! I makes you stronger!" Coach said "No."
Another student said "Running! Increases your endurance and helps you lose weight." Coach said "Nah."
My buddy thought about it and said "Swimming! It's a cardio based exercise that's low impact." Coach said "Wrong."
The class just sat there thinking about it and no one could come up with the right answer. So finally they're just asked, what is it? The coash told them that the best exercise is whatever works for you. Lame as it sounds, it's true. Not everyone can or even wants lift heavy weights. Not everyone can run for miles, be it from asthma or joint damage in their knees. Hell, some people never learned how to swim. The best exercose is whatever you can do, what works for you, and what keeps you interested and motivated, period.
If there is only one exercise to choose, it would be either uphill sprints or the burpee. But it gets very boring after a while if you only do one exercise. I'd suggest you to join a sport you really like (like fencing, kickboxing, athletics, soccer...) This will give you regular exercise and you will make friends as well. Plus it serves as a motivation to work out (if you don't you'll get your ass kicked by those who do).
If you only want to work-out without joining a sport, I suggest this (it's what I'm doing myself to stay fit for fencing):
1. Grab a deck of cards
2. Assign a particular exercise to each color/type (spades = squats, hearts = push-ups, diamonds = lower back, clubs = lower abs; for example)
3. Then draw cards and do the exercises (10 of hearts means 10 pushups)
4. Try to get through the entire deck of cards.
- This adds some game element to your workout, which helps you through the hard work. Good luck and have fun!
I have a Gym in my Building so this helps me Immensely, @Onyourbike.
However, Not everyone is so lucky with the Slim Jim, so I would Suggest Walking.
I have been an avid walker for years and it Can help to keep your weight down, tones and toughens.

One that you enjoy. It's the only thing that will keep you motivated. There's way too many different types of things you can do to know what is right for you specifically. If you have an inclination towards something, then do it.
If you were to just do one exercise for the rest of your life, I would do burpees. Works both upper and lower body.
But it won't get you buff.
Judo, Swimming and Ballet are rated as the top three sports for staying healthy/fit/athletic if you're not supplementing it with any additional exercise.
hello well first to be a proper help we must establish what factor of health and fitness you are refering to?
e. g strength, msucle endurance, cardio endurance, flexibilty etc
Lifting, not only would it increase your strength and stamina but also increase immunity and muscles
the one you can stick to doing every week
