My removed cyst on my thumb still hurts me?

I had my cyst removed and it after 12 months it still hurts me why?

I had a cyst removed from my knee about eight years ago. It still felt like it was there for a while because the pain was identical, and even now every once and I while I swear it's still there. I think it's similar to the phantom limb thing that amputees experience (obviously not as dramatic though). If it's the scar that's bothering you, then look up desensitizing scars on google.
