    Like, on a vegan diet? That's a tough one.

    Lentils are probably yr best bet, in terms of ratios of protein to everything else. Depends on how you prepare them, of course -- but, the raw lentils themselves get about 25% (green lentils) or 30-40% (red split lentils) of their calories from protein.

    There's also tofu, although the protein content (and quality) varies wildly from product to product.
    And tempeh, which is probably about as close as you'll get to a high-protein "low carb" vegan food -- although it's still high in fat. (An actual low-carb vegan diet is basically impossible, by the way, so, don't try to do that.)

    __

    Beyond those, yr mostly looking at primarily carbohydrate foods that also happen to have a decent amount of protein in them.
    * Amaranth
    * Quinoa
    * Hemp seeds
    * Beans, esp black beans
    * Don't forget wheat, as long as you are not celiac. (If you don't have actual celiac disease, you are almost certainly fine eating gluten.)

      I suppose some of the above are difficult to find, I 'll see what I can do.

      Lentils and tofu are everywhere (and lentils are super cheap). And beans, of course, have been the universal protein food of the working classes since time immemorial -- they are, and probably always will be, the cheapest protein source out there (in terms of $/gram of protein).

      If you have a Whole Foods anywhere near you, they'll have all of the other, more obscure ones, although some of them are $$$.
      I like to cook with amaranth and quinoa from time to time just because I like their textures -- they're a nice change from "the usual" carb foods every nowandthen.

    Wholegrains, beans and nuts are probably your best bet. You should be able to get about 30-40 grams of protein per day from those without much effort.

    Mostly dairy products. Egg whites.
    Then there are vegetables-
    Beans.
    Spinach.
    Kale
    Broccoli
    Sprouts.
    These are good if you're vegan.
